Opastar 4 Posted May 7, 2013 Tomorrow morning is surgery. The hesitation has struck. I have read many posts about the depression and regret that some have had, and it has made me pause. I know that I cannot keep weight off with out a crutch to keep me in check. That which does not kill me will make me stronger. Please let me know I am not alone. Please share your feelings the night before surgery. 1 debs1954 reacted to this
journeybegins05032013 8 Posted May 7, 2013 I was in your shoes just a few nights ago. Here is what it came down to: I did my research, prayed and made the decision. There is only so much you prepare for before hand. It is a brave step to becoming healthy again. Do it. Even if you have regrets they will be short lived. There are lots of people to cheer you on, you are NOT alone. Go for it! Call it a crutch or tool, either way, the one who makes it succeed is YOU.

SqueakyWheel&Ethyl 160 Posted May 7, 2013 How much time has passed from the first time you thought you might want to do this? How much did you read on it? Do you have faith in that person inside you that did all the pre-op footwork to get you to this day? Then, sit back and TRUST yourself! And, for the record, this isn't a crutch. Its an appetite suppressant. And, it's the most effective product available on any weight-loss product shelf. You don't have to set a timer to remind yourself to ingest a chemical daily. You don't have drug side effects. And, it's the SMARTEST weight-loss tool anyone can choose. Trust yourself and all you did to get here. And, be proud of yourself for changing your path. Tomorrow will be your new birthday! ((HUGS)) 1 ATMladyLAW reacted to this
Lisa's Hope 421 Posted May 7, 2013 I remember being where you are this time last year. My one year sleeversary is on May 21st and I've lost 117 pounds. I was so scared. I remember wanting to back out but I had prayed and ask God to free me from the fat prison I had been in most of my life. I would lose and gain it right back. I mean, I really lost a lot of weight throughout my life. Fifty pounds here, 90 pounds there, then 75... only to put it back on. I just decided to go for it. I thought, well... if I can get myself to the hospital and get back to surgery that is it! Thats exactly what I did. I knew when I went through those doors to surgery, there wasn't any turning back. You will do fine. I can't say I didn't have some hard days after. I'm older and my recovery was a little harder but I made it and I'm glad I did it! God bless! 2 SqueakyWheel&Ethyl and debs1954 reacted to this
T'snewstart 251 Posted May 7, 2013 By the time my surgery date came I just wanted to get it over with. Only once did a fleeting thought go through my mind. It was just before they rolled me into surgery. The thought was... Tina what the heck are you about to do? My next thought.... Tina you are saving your life. And I was at peace with it. I hope you are able to have peace of mind as I did. Best Wishes 1 SqueakyWheel&Ethyl reacted to this
Opastar 4 Posted May 7, 2013 Thank you all for the kind words. I have done my research. I should be comfortable with my choice. I have just made so many bad choices in the past. It is hard to trust myself. I know this is right. I have heard so many inspiring people on this and found that more people are happy they did this, than not. Just last minute jitters. Colemon70 87 Posted May 7, 2013 I cried when my surgeon came in right before they wheeled me back for surgery. His kind words and reassurance put me at a little more ease. Realizing my journey so far and realizing I trusted myself to make the right decision got me through. I wish you strength in yourself 1 SqueakyWheel&Ethyl reacted to this
leigh1111 53 Posted May 7, 2013 Omg it's the night before surgery for me too!!! Thank God my husband is amazing and keeps reminding me that I am doing the right thing...that I'm not taking the easy road out...that I'm not crazy as hell for choosing to have surgery. See...my hubby has Type 1 Diabetes, otherwise known as juvenile or brittle diabetes. I jave type 2 which is much less deadly but in the long run dangerous. We hate diabetes...I see my man on a pump daily struggling to keep his sugars in check. We were in the hospital a week ago dealing with diabetic ketoacidosis. So this I feel is the only way to fight diabetes and a tribute to my sweet man. Plus I'll look better in the long run. Lol. Good luck. I can't wait to see how you fare. I will check and try to post from the hospital....take care!!! We will be fine!!! May 7...here I come!! 1 blackie220 reacted to this
joyinthesouth 1 Posted May 7, 2013 I am 1 week post vs and let me tell ya the surgery was a piece of cake and the hospital stay for me. I have had some very tough days I have cried even though I was warned by everyone that had the procedure I knew that this is normal. I just keep my eye on the prize of a happier healthier me. My sister n law had lost 87 lbs in 9 months. Just know you will have bad days and you will say why did I do this it's gonna happen no matter how much you prepare yourself. Just know everyday you wake up gets better. Good luck
