12 days post op and I am at a weight stall!

Recommended Posts

I have read previous posts and i see i am not alone in having a weight stall but hunny, 8 lbs in 12 days just wont do for me!

I am following my dr orders(except the occasional cracker in my soup). I am on the full liquid phase and I have been cleared to eat oatmeal, cream of wheat and creamed Soups. Those are all starchy things that my Low carb living told me to avoid. I have started to add back my Protein shakes but still no results.

I am walking but was freaked out when I was on the treadmill and my tummy hurt afterwards..my doctors appointment is tomorrow and i am anxious to see what he will say about this.

In your experience, did your doctor encourage the pre op diet to get over a stall? What do you suggest?

Actually I was on 2 Protein Shakes right after surgery, plus 3 meals. However, those meals were 1/4 cup of strained cream Soups, lowfat cottage cheese. So I was consuming more calories. I would if you should be consuming more calories.... Good thing you have a appt. tomorrow. Best Wishes

Don't even give it another thought. I lost 13 pounds the first week, then NOTHING FOR THREE WEEKS. ZIPPO. I was so depressed. So discouraged. I was following instructions, but still nothing. I talked to the surgeon and NUT and that helped. The surgeon told me it will come. It's a math problem. And a lot is up to an individuals biology. He didn't buy much into the 'starvation theory', although some NUT do. Rather he said it will happen depending on my biology, and everyones is different. You will drive yourself nuts comparing to what others lose. Sure enough, on week four, 2 came off....then 7, then 3, then 3...and in 2 months it's 53 pounds.

Also, don't weigh every day. Pick one day a week and try to stick to that. But truly, it will come off. Honestly it will.

I'm 14 days out, and I to haven't lost any weight. At a stall as one would say.I've been on a full liquid diet, Protein and all.

I went on treadmill and my stomach began to hurt also.I still have gas and hope this goes away soon.

Thanks so much! I will try to weigh only once a week, that is going to be hard to do though. I just expected more but I need to have patience, your right!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
