Tech question...

Hey All, Happy Monday!

I've done a bit of reading and posting here the last few months - and I've seen so much talk on band size being reflective on fill quantity, etc. Can you please tell me what, why and how my Doctor determines what size of a band I will get?

There are a few different sizes of bands, and for the most part, your doc is supposed to have different sizes available during your surgery, so that they can fit the one they think is best for you once they can see your stomach.

But, you'll have to ask your doctor specifically how they decide that. Some doctors fit only one kind of band, some do it based on BMI, though I think the first method I described above makes the mose sense.

I know mine decided on which one according to your size and where most of your fat is located. I got the inamed 9.75 lowprofile band, which is the smaller band, not because I was small but most of my weight is hip, butt and legs. I've never had as much stomach fat. He said if he but the bigger band on a smaller stomach you would never get as good of restriction. Same thing if you have lots of stomach fat and that's where you carry most of your weight. If he put the smaller band on you would be too tight and it would erode into your stomach. Hope this helps a little. As you can tell, I'm no doctor. LOL.

According to my surgeon it's size of organ itself and size of fat pad around the organ. They're looking for a fit that fits, not one that gapes or squeezes.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
