I'm 5'9" and currently weigh 268 lbs

I know for my height a normal bmi is anywhere between 130-170 so I was just wondering what should my goal be? Is it unrealistic to think I could be in the 100s by the end of this year..my surgery is on May 23rd and I work out 6 days per week. Just wanted to know how anyone else with similar stats did?

I'm 5'9 too. I currently weigh 223 and started at 296. My surgery was Nov. 3rd. It's very possible you could be under 200 by the end of the year. As for goal, I have no idea. I've never been under 240 at this height. I'm thinking my goal for now is 170. But again, I've never been 170 so we'll see. I honestly don't want to be skinny, just fit and healthy. Good luck with your surgery!

I personally don't set goals as far as my weight in numbers. In the 4 months since the sleeve, I have realized I only have marginal control over what the scale says. I can eat really well, lower carb, under 1000 calories, and at the end of the week, little or no loss. So, sure, it's possible for you to be in the 100s, and I hope you do, that would be phenomenal!

I just try to go with the flow- I set goals that are 100% attainable, like, "I'm going to the gym to work out 5 times this week" or "I'm going to make sure I drink all of my Water every day this week". Good luck!

My stats were very similiar if not the same. I was sleeved on jan 22nd @273lbs this morning @205.5 yes it has not been 5 months and I am down almost 70lbs it's and I will be 49 this year so yes you can do it I don't beleive in the charts because I have always had big bones so at @150-170 I look like a crackhead...LOL!!! my body has a mind of its own I don't exercise as much as I would like to and I don't eat all the right foods but I am still loosing. I do have a physical job so that may help in burning calories and I must admit I have to force myself to eat sometimes.... if you follow the post op and get back to exercising I think it will happen for you sooner than you think... good luck!!!!!!!

I am a goal oriented person too, but one thing to be careful of is not self yourself up. I think it can be hard on the spirit if you set an aribitary goal and timeline, are wildly successful but then feel like a failure for not making it.

I set a goal initially to just get under 200#

Once I was in the low 190s, i set my end goal at 158 which is high end of the BMI normal range for me

I have maintained that weight for 3-4 months now and while most people think I am more like 140 (being obese so many years gives you heavier bones, internal workings and of course a little extra skin).

I have decided to go down another 10# and am resetting my own personal goal at 148.

I just think a certain amount of "playing it by ear" is a good idea so you don't wind up disappointed is all.

I too have similar stats.. I did set a goal wt because the doc asked me too.. now weather or not I get there.. right now I was just wanting to be under 200lbs.. and into what we call her onederland.. lol I wanted to be there in a years time.. so right now 4 mo out of surgery. I was 296 also.. ive lost 90lbs in 4mos.. so Im going to be close to my goal of 150.. I too have the big bones.. and I dont wish to look like a crack head either.. so whatever I decide when I get close to that.. I guess its all a matter of personal opinion. I will get to my goal.. Im more than half way there and only 4mo out.. so Im happy with my progress.. if I only get to 160.. hey thats ok too.. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
