Good morning everyone! I am scheduled to be sleeved THIS FRIDAY!!! Yikes! As excited as I have been throughout this entire process just this morning thinking about how close I actually am has me questioning my decision to go through with it. :( I have never had ANY type of surgery & fear I may be putting myself through unnecessary trauma. I also begin to fear it won't work for me. Up until this point I have been nothing but happy & excited' date=' now I fear I've done all this & it may end up being for nothing. I mean, I'm no fan of pain & I know there will be some physical pain & discomfort after surgery but if I don't go through with it, I'll still have to deal with the emotional pain I've been dealing with. Smh... Is this normal or am I just tripping? I mean seriously[/quote']

It is normal, I was the same way. Never had surgery before, until I was sleeved on June 11. As long as you follow your surgeon's instructions pre and post op, you'll do great! You've made it this far, no sense turning back now!

I am feeling the same way, I think it's completely normal. My surgery is wednesday. I have had surgery before but nothing elective like this, all the others were necessary. You will do great! Good luck!

I asked my husband every day for two weeks before surgery, "Scott is this really what I should do?". Let me tell you, yes! I'm on day 6. I started at 203 and today I am 179!!! I've tried losing weight and I am never successful. I'm only 5'1 so 203 was a lot on my little body. I'm hardly in any pain right now. I can't feel any of my incisions except the larger one on my left side. It's just uncomfortable. You will be ok. Praying for you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
