Quest bars. Short ingredient list. Low sugar & carbs, too. Be careful, they can be addictive!

I love the Atkins cranberry and almond bars, but I only ever eat Protein Bars when I need something else to help me hit my daily Protein goal.

Quest. PB&J and Cashew Coconut. High Protein and Fiber. Low net carbs. Especially if you nuke em for about 10 seconds.

I hated the Quest bars early on but haven't tried them lately (6 mon out). I like the Pure Protein, choc and Peanut Butter, and the Proti Diet ones. Tried an Atkins and it was good but not as much protein.

They don't cure my "candy bar" craving! :-) But they are tasty enough and very filling!

I just tried the Quest chocolate chip cookie dough bar and heated it about 10 seconds it was so good! I only had a third of the bar because I'm on my 3 week pre-op diet (1000 calories a day) but I could see having a small piece of one a couple months after surgery. Also the last 5k event I went to they had Power Crunch bars one is a wafer type bar and the other is a candy bar with krispy pieces inside those are also pretty darn good as well.

Totally addicted to the Quest bars. I've like almost every flavor and liked most of them. My favorite is strawberry Cheesecake. I only let myself have one a day though.

I like the Quest bars also but have never been able to eat a whole one at one sitting. One Bar usually lasts 3 Snacks for me. Makes them very economical.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
