What? Please provide factual research to support anything you've just said.

I didn't get sleeved to diet the rest of my life. I eat good food, and I eat what I want. I just went on a 3 day backpacking trip, and consumed 3 Hershey bars for energy on the trail. I ate several highly processed foods on that trip to get quick, high calorie counts during that trip. Came back down 4 pounds. My piss was straw colored so don't say I was dehydrated.

Smoking. Several doctors have different points of view on this subject and it's highly debatable. My Dr. told me not to smoke 6 weeks after surgery. Afterwards I was cleared to enjoy a nice cigar or pipe afterwards from time to time. Now I don't smoke all the time, maybe once or twice a month, but there are plenty of people here who do smoke often and haven't had any issues regarding the sleeve. Overall health and lung function is a different story, but you didn't mention anything about that.

It seems like maybe you have no business telling others what to do. What is it about weight loss surgery that gives others the right to barge in and start spreading false statements about things they obviously don't quite understand themselves.

You're not seriously defending smoking after getting the sleeve, are you? Just because people have smoked after getting the sleeve and haven't had any issues doesn't mean that it isn't a very real risk. It's like playing Russian roulette.

All the rest of this aside I think the OP was out of line and quite judgmental. I am not weighing the validity of their opinion but to initiate a post which basically called out the majority of people struggling with this process is a bit high and mighty to the rest of us - when the reality is - if the OP would be honest and come clean they probably have struggled w similar issues. Otherwise they wouldn't be here. A little compassion and empathy goes much further than judging and degrading. IMO

No, it really isn't. There are a select few of people here that are supportive, everyone else lives on a high horse because of lack of moderation and barriers set forth by the staff to tell people to sit down and shut up if they're just going to preach on about how perfect they are and what everyone else needs to do. If you're seriously in need of support, I would find a support group close by, or find several select members here whom you can relate to and seek support from them.

Nope, not at all. Just saying I feel people who preach about not smoking non stop are the same likes that we've dealt with that simply tell us "food is bad for you!" No ****? Really? Fix your own life and your own self before preaching to me about my imperfections. Smoking is bad, yup, sure is. Smoking increases so many health factors, but people still do it. People who smoke, they smoke. If they want to stop, they'll seek means to stop.

I've had people get in my face about smoking pipes and cigars. I seriously smoke once a month, IF THAT. However, that same person I know has an addiction to many things that are far worse to their health and wellness than me enjoying a pipe or cigar once a month in my back yard.

Kill the high horse, get off of it.

Ours only meets once a month too. I view this as a support system too. I'm learning to skip over negative messages and focus on the positive ones. It's a shame that the Internet is full of people who love drama and argument-especially on a site like this.

It's not a support group. It's a forum for exchanging info and experiences. It's VST and not VSSG.

That said...

I don't agree with the the delivery of the OP's message. I think you can be honest and forthright without being judgmental. Otherwise your message is overlooked due to how you delivered it.

Buuuuut. This is the Internet. And these are words "typed". We don't have to respond or defend when posts like this are created. We can dismiss and move on. We didn't. Our choice.

The thread shouldn't be delete. This person expressed themselves.... Poorly IMO. However they refrained from profanity and name calling. Not every responder can say the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
