NikkiC 37 Posted May 5, 2013 I was sleeved on 4/23, I'm a few days shy of the puréed stage. I decided to have a few bites of shrimp, I chewed small bites until it felt puréed. 5 minutes later, I threw it all up. 1. I'll take this as a lesson (hope you're not too hard on me) 2. Now I'm worried, did I cause any damage by throwing up? Help
Arts137 1,811 Posted May 5, 2013 From what I've read here, your body just told you to 'hold up'. Don't think damage was done... 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted May 5, 2013 No, it is very unlikely that throwing up caused any damage. Now for 20 lashings with a wet noodle. You are less than 2weeks post op. although shrimp is very high Protein, it is also very fibrous and really should be avoided till you reach full foods. Plus this early out your stomach is still in shock and isn't communicating the full sensation as effectively as it should. It is very easy to overdo solid foods, thought you are not likely to actually harm yourself, for best results, stick to the plan. Hopefully I wasn't too hard on you. 2 ProudGrammy and NikkiC reacted to this

NikkiC 37 Posted May 5, 2013 Oh... but it's ok to have soda Don't tell them I actually never cared for soda - just not a fan of belittlement/people who are holier than thou...
jlobyxmas 38 Posted May 5, 2013 I was throwing up in the hospital and it freaked me out that I was gonna bust something, my surgeon specifically said it was OK, he stapled and sewed over the incision. It hurt like hell, but he said I didn't hurt anything. 2 NikkiC and gibson_girl reacted to this
kimbernada 190 Posted May 5, 2013 I didn't have a pureed phase for my post-op diet. We went out to eat about two weeks after my surgery - I had a little bit of baked potato and some bourbon chicken. (It's super moist chicken.) Moist meat was on my list of "okay" foods to eat.

mswanda9577 44 Posted May 6, 2013 My docs diet is so different than what I see every one else have. Only on day of liquid diet-preop. Then one day of Clear Liquids in hospital. When I came out, I was allowed puréed foods. Then after one week I go to a soft food diet. I wonder why every bodies is different. I went to Vanderbilt Hospital.
