Spoiled1 15 Posted May 5, 2013 The doctor just put me on my PreOp diet last week. I am wondering how long will I be on this diet before I get my actual surgery date? I have had one appt with him, one with the psychologist, and two with the dietician. All of these within the last two months. My BMI is currently 51.
Momonanomo 534 Posted May 5, 2013 It all depends on your dr...everyone is different. You should definitely ask -- this is a very reasonable question!
No game 14,437 Posted May 5, 2013 I would guess if he started you now, you will be on it until surgery. People typically do the pre op diet up until their surgery date.
T'snewstart 251 Posted May 5, 2013 I had my visit with the surgeon and had surgery one month later. I was on the pre op diet for that month. However, I would call and ask. Best Wishes
elliscoastie 9 Posted May 5, 2013 are you talking about Pre-op as in only taking in a limited amount of calories? My pre-op started the first day I met with the nutrionist. She put me on a 1200 calorie diet. I had to record everything I ate to keep within my limit. I met with her 4 times during this process, once a month. Once I got my surgery date, I had to go on a full liquid diet (14 days before my surgery date). My surgery is scheduled for May 16th. today is my 4th day...not too bad. Not as hungry as I thought I'd be. Hope this helps. All doctor's are different though. Always check with yours and what your nutrionist says.
Spoiled1 15 Posted May 5, 2013 So far I am on a 900 calorie diet. I am consuming about two to three Protein Shakes a day.
