Is this for me ???

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have just recently started looking into the banding procedure. I have been fighting my weight all my life from the time I was a toodler. I currently am not only fighting a relationship that has recently ended but also sever thyroid disorder. I have always wanted to do something about my weight and I have tried everything aside from surgery. I have been on every diet imaginable and in order to lose weight I have to do 90% more then someone normally would. I am desprite to do something life changing. I want to be a different person on the outside. I don't want this anymore and I want people to see me for me and not as an overweight woman. I want to be happy with myself and increase my health. I have heard positive things and negative I just am not sure where I might fit in. I am trying to decide if this is the right thing for me. Please help with any advice... Thanks:faint:

Well Havin, there are things that determine if you are candidate for lapband. What is your height and weight? Most doctors want a BMI of 40, or 35 with co-morbidities like diabetes. It is a major decision to make, and this researching part is the first step. I hope you find whatever solution works for you.

I feel your pain. I felt like I tried everything also and the weight just kept creeping up. I would diet with friends and be more strict with the calories and more intense with the exercise and still lose less than they did. I would diet for literally 5 months to lose 20 lbs and my diet buddies would lose 2 and 3 times that. Being banded the weight has come off slow for me, but has come OFF nonetheless. I think you need to keep researching your options and see what seems right for you. I wish you the best.

Hi Havin, I am 5'9 and my highest weight was 320. I am now down to 250. I lost 40 lbs myself before surgery. My BMI was quite high so I qualifed. It sounds like you would. This is a very personal decision for each of us but hopefully with the right information you will get what you need to make the decision. Good luck. I'm glad I did it.
