Shame on you two for ridiculing what you don't understand. Wow! This really feels like when I was obese and people made fun of me behind my back...sound familiar? Thank you for reminding me why I bypassed this site after joining in 2010. The post was about the questions we ask ourselves pre-op and what those answers are/were for me. The point was to help those who are asking those same questions and allay some of those fears. I believe I mention my book at the end of the post to show that I actually know what I'm talking about, but your comments border on rude and I don't take that crap from anyone these days. Remember, you get what you give. I choose to educate and enlighten, not belittle and ridicule. Good luck to you both on your journeys and I hope you learn some manners along the way.

Good luck with selling your book. I would point out there's not a point on your FAQ and a whole lot more, that isn't asked and answered on this board at least 10 times a day, every day...............free of charge.

Again, best of luck with your entrepreneurial endeavors.

Thank you for your well wishes Steve. I totally agree with you. You CAN get this information here as well as on other forums, free of charge, on a daily basis...if you are willing to wade through all the posts. As a Pre-Op, I searched and searched for a book written by someone who had experienced this surgery and at the time, nothing was available. After reaching goal and maintaining, I wanted to fill that need. I thought it was important to "pay it forward" in a way that was not available to me. I apologize if this is offensive to this community, but I will continue to "put it out there" to attempt to help those who are unsure if they can succeed or don't receive enough information from their surgical teams. Best wishes to you all!

"Shame on you" I love that term, it makes me feel young again! I can almost see the nun wagging her finger at me in school! :P

No I will tell you what I find offensive.

Someone that comes here for the sole purpose to peddle their wares!

Perhaps I am wrong about your intent, but your very first post here was to talk to newbies about your book..

I do not see that as "paying it forward" I see that as wanting to get paid.

On a weekly basis people come here and try to sell things to us and I'm sick of it. I will compliment you though..I'm glad at least yours is a book and not a body wrap :D

Thank you for your insight. I see where you are coming from and it makes sense. In my defense, I just want to say that I have been paying it forward since 2010, just on another forum, but there was no way for you to know this. I guess when I posted this, I had forgotten that you all had not traveled this journey with me, as others have, and didn't know me from Adam. Consider me schooled. LOL on the finger wagging Nun comment. That made me laugh as I got a visual on it...I'll hang around and try to help some people here as I've been helped/helping elsewhere and maybe this will prove that I'm not just a money grubbing vermin. No hard feelings here and I hope you feel the same.

Deb, I sincerely appreciate what you had to say and will follow your suggestions. I understood the point of your post and did not take it as a way to sell your book at all......there is a time and place for sarcasm but when someone is sincerely trying to help others, I do no think sarcasm is necessary.......as a pre-op sleever I have a hard time searching the thousands of posts for useful information....I appreciate sarcasm believe me, but there is no need for it ALL the time.....thank you Deb. :-)

I thought everything you said was insightful and never thought of comparing the "are you ready for this" to are you ready for parenthood but it is an excellent analogy. Thank you for posting. And for those that didn't like that she was "peddling" a book, you could have just ignored it and taken her advice/insights because it IS good info and that's what we're all here for!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
