Can a dilated pouch be trimed/cutback/resized during revision surgery?

Recommended Posts

It seems to me I've heard of people having their pouch operated on. I'm wondering if with my dilated pouch, could a surgeon cut away part of the pouch when they are in there taking out the band and doing the sleeve?

Or am I dreaming?

Thanks

Do you know for a fact that you actually have a dilated pouch?

The dilated poach happens when you have the band for a long time & over eating along the years & vomiting. It's happens a lot with the band after years of having it . I had my band for almost 14 years & I helped me in the past lose & maintain my weight but I always had to put effort & diet when I gained a few pounds . It was the only available procedure at that time . I am revising to sleeve in two days , I hop the sleeve works for me .

I see, you do not have a vertical sleeve, you have a band. I was interested in this topic because there are not a ton of confirmed cases of SLEEVE dilation although with bariatric patients, where there is a will, I believe there is a way. Some say that streaching the SLEEVE is not really possible.

When you have your sleeve they will be removing the dilated portions of your STOMACH, as for your esophagus I don't think thats possible.

Overfilling the band is a big culprit for this as it causes the pouch to stay full longer and stretch.

My doc says the esophagus should get better now that I've had liquid taken out of the band.

OK, help with a question!

If the sleeve 'can't' be stretched. How do folks regain the weight lost?????

Absolutely I am 6 months out and I know that if I wanted to I could eat "around" my sleeve there are a ton of "slider foods" and as it works out a lot of them are the kinds of things that are not good for you...There is also grazing I know I could eat a whole 12 serving package of chips ahoy or something like that if I wanted to. Also there are liquid calories (ice cream is frozen liquid) as we can consume anything liquid in larger amounts. My point is if someone is looking for an "easy way out" this is not it,you still have to make right food choices or you will end up right back where you started from :)

Eating constantly basically. Regain IS POSSIBLY. I knoew for certain I could graze all day and gain weight. It can happen to anyone.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
