10 days post op and having really sharp consistent stabbing pains in my side---feels like I'm being poked over and over. It has got me doubled over and I can not sit or lay comfortably. Has any one else experienced this?

I went to my follow up appointment and told the doctor and med assistant said this was to be expected and to take pain meds. They dont seem to be working. Im really worried this is something else...

If the pain is upper left abdomen pain, it's most likely your new tummy. I am a little over 3 weeks out and get similar pain and for me it seems to be gas (air trapped). Try gas-x strips. If its lower left abdomen its probably your bowels or lack there of..... In which case u may be able to take colace (stool softener) of course check with your doc first. I am certainly no doc, lol. Hope this helps and u feel better soon.

I have the stabbing, burning, and tearing sensations on my left side too. My surgeon told me that my pain was from an internal stitch in the muscle. She told me to take my pain meds and Tylenol but neither helped with the pain. The pain is becoming less intense which is a good sign but it's still there. Only time will take care of this.

I had something similar 2 days after discharge. It ended up being a stich and a degradable piece of gauze that the got stuck in between my stomach and spleen. Non the less I wouldnt play around and I would take the ride to the er. I did and ended up staying overnight. Best decision not only for my own piece of mind but the pain mamagement at the hospital is 10000 times better for you. Good luck but as a 17 year veteran medic I would say play it safe and get checked.

My surgery was April 11, I only quit having the stabbing pains April 30. MD said it was from the sphincter stitches of the larger incisions through my ab muscles deep inside. I took my last Rx pain meds May 2. Now just aching in the 6 places they had to go in for my surgery. I can almost sit up now without pain

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
