Day 10 of my Pre-op. Really hard day. Stuck to my plan so far but it was SO hard! Went to the Royals/Cardinals game. So much food, food smells, etc. I'm not hungry at all, but I just wanted to EAT!!

Well done sticking to the plan. That was a lot of temptation and not easy I'm sure. We are almost there!!!!

I made it through the day! Whew! Good luck to you tomorrow with starting your Pre-op. I leave for Mexico at 6am on Thursday morning. Once I get there they will take me to the hospital for my labs and then I get to spend the night at the hospital because I am first on the surgery schedule Friday morning. "Very early" they said. (I wonder what time "very early" means in Mexico?) :-) Two more days at home then off I go to start my journey! *Linda*

This all liquids pre-op diet sucks! I don't know how people do this for 2 weeks. So glad my doctor only requires 3 days. I'm starving and the thought of another Protein shake is just not appetizing. I went to the gym at noon (could tell I was weaker than usual) and I'm getting a mani pedi soon so hope that takes my mind off of how hungry I am. So far today I've had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, some sugar free Jello, some chicken broth (so not the same without the chicken, veggies and noodles!) for lunch and 2 sugar free popsicles. I've also been drinking Water and grape propel. My stomach is not happy at all.

And, it's only day 1! Sorry to be so whiny - hopefully tomorrow will be better. How is everyone else doing? Hopefully better than me. :D

It does suck! It's ok to vent here. I took Tylenol the first three days for the headaches. Can you try to get 3 Protein Shakes in? One at mid-day would help with your hunger feelings.

I have to agree. I'm struggling today as well. My energy level is low and the headaches started today. I'm trying not to do anything strenuous so that I don't deplete any further. Getting control of the mind is a process. Take one hour at a time. Hang in there team. We are almost there. The gold medal is almost ours.

Add some seasonings to your broth to help with the taste. I added a little Miss Dash for some flavor. I can't help you with the Protein drinks. I can't stand them. I'm like a little kid at the dinner table eating something i hate. i am gagging them down.

My chicken Soup Protein broth from unjury arrived mid afternoon and I'm having a cup right now as I type. This is the way to get Protein. It's pretty darn good and no gagging it down like my Protein shake this morning. My plan is to do the Protein Shake in the morning and the Soup for lunch and dinner. The combination will get 65 grams of protein in me. Hope I still like the broth post surgery. I can do this. We can do this.

PS - thanks for the words of encouragement!!!

Kailisa and Mizzougirl, have you tried Isopure? They have drinks the consistency of Gatorade. 60 calories, 15 grams of Protein. I like them a lot.

I bought a couple this weekend. Will try one tomorrow. Do you have a particular flavor you like?

I like the Grape Frost and the other one I don't remember the name but its red and like tropical punch. They are not as sweet as Gatorade but lots of Protein for the calories and a refreshing change from shakes.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
