Thank you MizzouGirl! Wishing you the best for your surgery on Friday. How did today go for your Pre-op??

Not great. The morning was ok but the afternoon was miserable. Tried the Protein shot and threw it up. Just glad there is only 1 more day of this liquid diet hell. How about you?

Good for you!!! I've decided to save my Isopure until after surgery. Hoping to have one thing that's not tainted by a pre surgery puke. I just really struggle with the manufactured Protein stuff. sleep well and safe travels and let us know how it went when you get back.

Yeah --- better to be excited! I'm a bit anxious but not as much as I have been over the last few days. I think this liquid diet has just zapped me into submission. Hoping the post surgery liquid diet isn't as difficult as this has been. I have lost 7.5 lbs in 2.5 days on it, though. Good luck to you!!!

MizzouGirl's husband here. The surgery status board just updated and she's in surgery now. They bumped us to the second surgery so we're a bit later than expected.

The experience so far has been great. All the staff here have been really good. She did fine this morning but had some anxiety after initial prep in pre-surgery. I was able to wait with her. I did the best I could to comfort and relax her so she got a pre-surgery neck and shoulder massage.

So far this has been a lot to think about and process. Such an immediate and significant impact and eventual life changing benefits. It can be overwhelming. My wife has gotten a lot from her participation in the forums here. It's helped for her to be able to connect with all of you and share.

I'd like to personally say thanks to you all for the stories, insight, support, and encouragement.

Just talked to Dr. Everything went great. No problems, 100% laparoscopic, leak test passed. She's in recovery for about an hour and then I'll see her in her room.

In the hospital and under tornado warnings. Sirens are going off and circulations are going overhead. That have moved all patients to the hallways. Takes my mind off the discomfort. ;)

Oh no! Is your surgery going to be delayed? This is stress you don't need.

Already had my surgery this morning luckily. Just had to be moved from my hospital room to the hallway for awhile. No damage to the hospital but tornadoes did touch down not too far away (I live in the St Louis area).

Hello from the sleeved side! Everything went great and Dr. Alvarez and his team are AMAZING. Surgery took a little longer due to scar tissue from band that was removed last year. I am in absolutely no pain and have already started walking around. Can't wait to get the IV out tomorrow. Time to get some sleep now, tomorrow will probably be very tiring. Thank you for all your thoughts prayers!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
