I drank alcohol last night. It hasn't even been 2 weeks since my surgery and I feel like crap today. I ordered a beer without even thinking about it cause I was already drunk. I feel so stupid that I did that. I think it's what made me throw up. Do you think that my band could slip after one mistake? :help:

I doubt your band slipped, but beer is probably what caused you to throw up. The carbonation in beer makes it impossible for me to drink. Get a grip today and recommit yourself to following the rules! You can get through it, we have all been there (newly post-op).

Well thank you. I do feel a little better now. I'm just so paranoid about slippage cause I'm self pay :cry

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Try rereading the materials from your doctor again to help you recommit to following their guidelines. I don't think the recommendations were created to make us miserable or miss out on all of the fun--they just want us to be protected from as many complications as possible! From what I understand, carbonation can cause your new pouch to stretch, which could affect the healing of the part of the stomach that was pulled over the band. :omg:

If you do go out with friends, try to think about a strategy to avoid alcohol ahead of time. Maybe you could have a Protein shake before you leave and plan to sip Water with lemon, unsweetened iced tea, or juice while you're out. I always do better avoiding things I shouldn't eat in a social situation when I have a plan, but boy, is it hard to stick to! :)

I rarely drink alcohol so I don't think that will be a problem for me after surgery, but I'm definitely not looking forward to having to give up my carbonated, flavored water or my beloved Diet Coke! :cry

If I drink, I have a glass of wine, after dinner. Or I will have a mixed drink that is not carbonated. I make sure someone else is driving, as one drink and I am altered. I never drink and drive, not even one drink. Before banding I could have several drinks and still be ok, now one drink and I am tipsy. ~Mandy

I drink a glass of wine in the evenings...i have occassionaly been known to have a beer or two but I usually undo the cap and let it flatten before i really get into it...I enjoy drinking but in moderation...pick yourself back up onto the horse and giddy-up! there is always tomorro. You'll get there girl! Just you wait...setting the good habits will get easier and easier.

:)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
