I got my sleeve April 1st 2013 and have a cup of coffee in the morning with low fat Half and Half and sweet and low without any problems. Ps yes I cleared from my doctor and nutrianist. I use to have 2 big cups, but am very happy now with about a half a cup, as I am full! Love my morning coffee!

I wasn't a big coffee drinker prior to being sleeved, but I am now. I drink coffee everyday. I enjoy this fr/ Starbucks- tall Decaf mocha, soy milk, no whip , extra hot!!! I checked w/ my dr & they said it was fine;-)

I am 3 weeks post op and could have coffee while I was in the hospital, however. I have discovered much to my dismay, that I no longer like coffee :( It was my friend, my confidant and my drug of choice, but no more. I grieved a little, tried different lattes, chai teas and have now discovered a cup of English Breakfast tea is enough. Guess the English side of me is stronger than the stomach.

This is an issue that every Dr/NUT seems to have differing opinions on. Personally I drank coffee the day after surgery in the hospital, and have drank coffee every day since with no issues. Now some people will say coffee will irritate your stomach lining and causes difficulties with healing, my surgeon says while this can be true if you didn't have issues with adverse reactions to coffee prior to surgery you shouldn't after either. It is true that coffee is a natural diuretic which is why it is advisable not to count it towards your daily Fluid intake and can actually cause some people to need more fluids to make up for it. One good thing about starting to drink coffee early is that hot liquids will help to decrease the swelling in your esophagus and stomach post op making it easier to they get your daily fluids in. So coffee can definitely be in your future but as with everything post op should be discussed with your dr and started slow to make sure you can tolerate it. Good Luck.

coffee is a diuretic and can dehydrate you. According to my DR/NUT it doesn't even count as part of your daily liquid because for every ounce of coffee you drink, you need to drink an additional ounce of Water to counteract its effects. Personally, I have a hard enough time with 64 oz. I don't want to have to drink even more!

Such good news, so good to hear. Thanks everyone, when I'm farther out I will experiment. I even saw that chike offers iced coffee flavor Protein.< /p>

Yay!

I drink the Protein iced coffee by chike. It's awesome! You get the caffeine plus 20g of protein (more if you mix with milk). I think they sell sampler packets, but I went for the big container. I drink it every morning.

I think it depends upon your ultimate view on eating after the surgery. Many give up almost everything, while others have a vice or two. I have coffee regularly, and It hasn't stalled my weight loss per say, but when I have too many, I definitely feel the Water weight. I watch my calories everyday. I plan on living the all things in moderation lifestyle, once I reach my goal weight. I think giving up everything is a sure way for me to fail! Good luck!

I mix a cup of coffee with my chocolate Protein Drink over ice with a Splenda every morning and I'm fine. now, with that said, the caffine in it doesn't bother me. but, dark ice tea makes my sleeve feel weird. if its dark I dilute it and then its fine. only thing I can figure out is the caffine content. everyone is gonna be different.

My Dr/NUT says that I can have Decaf coffee (it's the caffine that is the diuretic not the coffee itself, it actually can have some laxitive properties). I have gotten to where I fix my coffee in the mornings with a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder and some English Toffee stevia or with a scoop of chocolate Protein powder and either dark chocolate stevia or hazelnut stevia. Now it takes a little figuring out because if you get your coffee too hot the protein powder will clump. I usually mix a scoop of protein with 1-2 oz of Water and then temper it with some of the coffee. Add that back to your coffee and you are good to go! I don't even miss Starbucks any more and trust me, I love me some starbucks! I have a cup of it every morning, I don't get the carbs from milk or FF half and half PLUS I get the protein.

I was approved for coffee at 3 weeks. At first I could only do one cup in the morning with one Splenda and two tbsp of full fat half and half. Now I can finish two in the morning.

I loved my coffee in the morning too. 2 big cups got me going everyday. After surgery it didnt sit well in my new stomach, so I left it alone until I hit the 3 month mark and then it was fine. But I can only drink one cup now.

Love the new teeny tummy!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
