can you put ointment on incisions?

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 days post op and my skin around the incisions are dry and tight. Are we able to put any kind of ointment or lotion to help with?

If they were glued you shouldn't put anything on them until the glue falls off.

I'm already itchy. And I'm a picker haha trying not to pry at these scabs. They aren't as bad as I thought they'd be though. And I'm glad I wasn't stapled.

Thanks for the help :)

Agree!

I agree with Stef and LipstickLady. Annoying as it is, you need to wait. Then you can use Neosporin until it heals and Vitamin E will minimize the scars. Good luck!

I was told not to put anything on it. I have staples though.

You shouldn't put any type of antibiotic ointment on the incisions. Keeping it moist will delay wound healing. I put aveeno lotion on the skin around the incision being mindful to not put it to close or directly on the incision. Double check with your doctor if you are concerned.

Don't pick!! Your chances of contaminating your incision site drastically go up. You ever hear of MRSA? Suck it up, it's your body healing.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
