Perhaps take a cooler of course stocked with Water but also some of your favorite pre made Protein shakes. I would also suggest the foil pouches of tuna and salmon. Depending on what type of diet your NUT has you on maybe bananas or other soft fruit?

Safe travels

I'm going on a road trip (8 hr to Seattle to take an Alaskan cruise) this coming Monday! I've already got packed: almonds, Jerky, yogurt covered pretzels (a bit of a treat!), Cheerios, and a cooler with yogurt and Water. I almost always have a pkt of almonds in my purse for emergencies.

Traveling is so different now because I don't want to get stuck out with nothing to chooses from but a convenience store! I usually pack some nacho cheese or carmel mini rice cakes for crunch, applesauce, fruit cups, string cheese, roast beef or ham slices (rolled up), waters, crystal light, and my choco Premier Protein with some single serve folgers coffee packets to make my mochas :)

I am on the road a lot for my job. I always keep a small cooler with my Protein drinks (I like the Fruit Drinks as opposed to the shakes), string cheese (I can eat it while I am driving), and I sometimes pick up a pre-packed container of tuna salad from whole foods (and a fork!) and toss it in my bag as well.

I am a year out and have take. A few road trips. I do take nuts and I will pull over at Wendy's and order chili. Their chili has been a life saver when I'm on the road and there's no room for a cooler. I'm taking a road trip in a few weeks and I will be taking kind bars. I'm so loving those things they are all natural no processed crap, they do have carbs, but they are the good healthy carbs that your body needs. You can also take Jerky.< /p>

@Chitowngirl

I have never heard of kind bars. Please tell me about them and where do you get them?

@Laura V, I even packed my premier shakes in a ziplock and then a rubbermaid and checked them in my luggage, wasn't sure if they would explode since they are cardboard with foil opening. Made it through just fine and they saved my life since I was eating out 4 days straight.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
