I am going nuts here...I had surgery in January and I'm only down 35lbs total (including 21 lbs pre op). I am exercising, I am eating properly, in fact I have been trying to see if I could "shock"myself into losing again by upping my protein...no luck :( I'm getting desperate here. I am wondering if I should go back on a liquid diet like I was on for pre op. I have had some suggestions from people on here, and I've tried most of them... the scale isn't moving :/ I don't know what to do. I don't have a Dr. I am "self paid" when I see my family Dr she's at a loss. I did see a nutritionist and she told me to try to get all my Protein from food and not shakes... not possible!! Besides that doesn't help me anyhow because the scales not moving !!! Argh I am so frustrated !!!! Sorry I just had to vent, I don't have anyone to talk too here at home :(

Are you getting your heart rate up during exercise and keeping it up for at least twenty minutes? That's the only thing I can think of..you need that heart rate up.

Are you tracking your food on My Fitness Pal or another app? If not, start tracking. It's possible you're eating more than you think you're eating, although that's pretty difficult at only 4 months post-op. How much weight did you want to lose initially? If you're in the lower BMI category, it takes longer to lose the weight than those of us who were knocking on 50 or above. Also, you could be building muscle and shape-shifting rather than losing pounds if you're exercising a lot. Have you taken your measurements? If not, today is a great day to do that and then start tracking your measurements over time. You may find that you're losing inches rather than pounds at this point. Good luck!!

Water, water, water. Drink as much as you can. That helps a lot. As the prior post said track every morsel that goes in your mouth and stay under 800 cal at this point. Good luck.

Everything that has been said above is what i would have added also. I track with MyfitnessPal and find it very helpful. Another factor - - are you getting enough sleep? And have you had bloodwork done after surgery to see if your levels (especially Vitamin D) are ok?

Are you really losing nothing or just very slowly?

I'm in the same place! Twenty gone immediately post op (March 20th), then nothing. Have lost 10 inches, nothing to sneeze at though. BUT I cut out the Protein Shakes yesterday - dropped a pound today. The first pound in 4 weeks. I have read confliciting reports about OVER-doing protien - your body uses that, not fat stores for energy and to meet BMR. I also gave myself permission to eat like a real person. Healthy Protein and veggies, good fats. So, we'll see. I have been feeling like a failure too. Hope that this direction is the right course and good luck!!

I have an account on fitness pal but I don't know how to track regular food. I make chicken and sweet potato or squash and veggies but I don't know how much Protein, sugar etc there is in my meal !!

I drink a fair amount of Water, sip all day long.

I don't know maybe I will try cutting out the Protein Drinks all together and see how that works :( I'm sooo confused! I am not losing anything..if it was slow I would be happy but the scales literally not moving !!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
