brendani 69 Posted May 2, 2013 I am still considering VSG - 90% decided. I drink Protein Shakes regularly now, as I go to the gym frequently and play basketball. It has always been overeating that kept me fat. Did everyone's taste change so readily after surgery, or is this only something for a small percentage? I can't imagine all of a sudden not enjoying the flavour of the shakes I drink now.
johnlatte 1,232 Posted May 2, 2013 I haven't noticed any change at all, for anything that I eat or drink. Some come here and say that happens, but I must be a different type of mutant. I liked the brand of Protein Shake that I use. (Premier). I drank them for a long time before surgery was a thought, and still drink them today.
Ballermom 803 Posted May 2, 2013 I liked Premier Protein shake before but my taste did change after my VsG I couldn't tolerate the sugar in them and now I take nectar Syntax. 1 kimikat3 reacted to this
Arts137 1,811 Posted May 2, 2013 Look up Ghrelin. That should make you feel better. The (removed) stomach makes it... so... you should be less hungry.
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 2, 2013 Between the liquid diet and the ghrelin removal, I couldn't stand sweet stuff for quite a while post surgery. I like chocolate and some sweets now, but it's a whole different level of "like" than it was pre-op. I can take it or leave it for the most part. I'm actually on a mission now to de-sugar my life completely on the advice of my surgeon. He claims that sugar is by far the worst ingredient in the American diet and I definitely see his point. I don't crave fatty foods, but I definitely crave sugar for days when I allow it into my diet.

Taylor Webster 28 Posted May 3, 2013 The way certain things taste definitely changed for me. It has been a great thing for me though. I used to really hate a lot of vegetables and love the artificial sugary stuff. now I crave vegetables a lot and anything that has a lot of chemicals or artificial flavors tastes terrible. It is pretty great to not like the things that could get me into trouble. 1 brendani reacted to this
