My vote is...

...that I don't get a vote. ;) It's not my decision to make!

What will make you happiest? What goal do you really want to reach? You look fantastic--I'm sure that's why your friends are telling you that you can stop losing weight now--but just as the choice to have surgery was yours, so is the decision about when you have reached your weight loss goal.

Whatever you choose to do, make certain you can live with it. Good luck!

I'm a little confused because I'm still in the pre op stage but my dr made it seem like you cant just choose when to stop losing weight.

Laura's right!

I have at least one or two people in my life that I'm SURE will tell me "ohhhh you can stop now, you look fine"--but their motives will be more about feeling jealous or competitive. More about "holycrap, she's getting too gorgeous, better put a stop to this ASAP". Notice I didn't call them friends, just people in my life. ;) Hopefully nobody in your life would do that to you.

I'm pre-op too, so I defer to the veteran sleevers on the forums to clarify this fully--but from what I gather, once you reach your goal, you move to an eating pattern that lends itself to maintaining your weight rather than aiming for weight loss. I might be wrong, though!

Can some post-op people 'splain how it all works?

Well yes it's completely within my power to do so.. You just have to eat a bit more or add higher fat, calories to you diet.. This surgery is a tool, you still have to work on eating the right things during the losing phase. That's why some time you see people struggling after some months out because you can eat more..

I have to agree w Laure and Vix the person that telling me to stop has made some jokey jokes about me that I don't take seriously because I feel like she's jealous the reason for me asking is because I feel great I'm getting all these compliments and I see a difference in my clothes but I some how feel I could be thinner and my mind has not caught up I got here so fast it's only been 14 weeks too loose what felt like could have taken a lifetime but thanks everyone imma stick to the plan you only live twice in my case ( joke) and I'm living for the second time but imma get it rt for the first time

Everything I've learned so far says you have a window of a year to 24 months to take it as far as you can--and from what I've seen on the forums, some people blow right on past the "you'll lose around 60% of your excess weight" expectation and lose 80, 90, 100 or 110% of their excess weight.

Why hold yourself back--go as far as you want. Let the jealous types just learn to deal with it. It's not their decision anyway. Living well is the best revenge!

Whatever feels good to you is what you should stop at. For your height your healthy bmi is quite a bit lower, but that doesn't mean that's what you should aim for. Based on your pictures I think around 200-190 would have you looking great and still not looking too thin, but hey, if you get there and aren't happy you could always put on a few pounds to get back up a little more.

Hi .... First let me say you look fabulous! As to your goal.... Go with your own convictions! It's always hard to determine the motives of others. I will say this I too have had a similar experience with a "friend". However, I choose not to take a Detour for anyone. I will not slow down or change my goals for anyone else! I am sure you goals are healthy ones.... Follow your heart! Best wishes one the rest of your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
