Ah! You are probably right. Sorry, I'm relatively new to this VST app and on my phone I can't see the full titles of the forums. I did not mean to upset anyone--thought that the forum was self pay and Mexico surgeries (two different groups).

You're fine to post it here. It is for Self Pay options. Mexico happens to be the most common option.

BeLiteWeight is also self pay with a Las Vegas option. $10,500 I believe.

I'm confused--there are so many posts on the great experience patients have had with specific surgeons (Mexico or not). Why is there some implication that I'm posing as the surgeon in order to advertise for him? I'm not getting anything out of it other than being able to share my personal experience. I have said absolutely nothing about him being better or worse than anyone else.

Umm.. I never said a thing about you or your post. I apologize if you misunderstood my post. My reference was about Dr B joining the forum and well.. Advertising in his subtle ways. Also.. The coincidental timing with you joining is remarkable... Small world!

I checked out this website and the price is nowhere near that of the TJ doctors. Unfortunate:(

I've found if you don't praise a select few surgeons on here that you are immediately suspect. My review disappeared after a few days. Thanks for the info, this is the self pay AND Mexico forum.....not just for MX.

I hope you have great results. I've very glad I went to TJ but hey, 12.5k isn't bad for the states at all. I had originally looked at surgeons in the states before I found a very experienced Dr I was comfortable with.

Rebecca: cost was $12,500. Still not cheap by any means but I could not have taken the time to travel to Mexico (due to my job and not wanting to leave my 18-month-old for that long). For me, this was the best option. I don't have any knowledge of the surgeons in Mexico--just wanted to let folks know that I personally am very glad Dr. Bruce set this program up for those of us who did not get approved by insurance. It's all about doing what is right for you and your family. The program is just getting started and I just wanted to share in case others were weighing the options.

I went to the mentioned site and it only references Care Credit. Is there another type of financing?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
