geoff-bander 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Hi All, I got my band on 16 Oct 06 and my first fill 6 Dec 2006. I have lost 30 pounds so far but most of that was pre-op diet for 2 weeks. During the post-op/pre-fill period I was quite hungry so I only lost a few pounds during that period. Because my clinic is closed over Christmas and I will not return to them until February my doctor gave me a 4cc fill. I have started walking 10 minutes a day on the treadmill and will be building that up to 30 minutes over the next couple of weeks. Can I finally expect the weight to fall off like magic or am I being dillusional. Good luck to all of you. Geoff
Devana 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Geoff, and welcome. Congratulations on your banding. I read over and over again when perusing this site pre-banded, that "remember, the band is only a tool". And I have found that to be absolutely true. I have certainly experienced a plateau after my initial loss, mainly due to the fact that I have yet begun to exercise seriously, yet. It sounds like you're doing the right thing, building up your treadmill minutes. You also may want to check out fitday to record your calories, and if you haven't already done so, check out the October bandsters thread. It's interesting to talk to people who are at the same stage. All the best.
~Jules~ 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Geoff. It isn't going to fall off, but you are certainly on the right track. I have yet to start exercising. I know it is going to be the key to the weight loss for me, but I attend school full time and work full time. My semester ends this next week, so I am going to start then. I have a stationary bike that I will do like you on your treadmill. I will start out slow and work up to more time. I simply can't ride it very long right now. Like Devana said, it is a tool. It will take time, but it will happen. Especially with you starting your exercising. You need to try and remember that it isn't going to fall off like it does for the gastric bypass people. Though it is so much safer this way. Good luck to you. And hang in there. It will happen.
juliegeraci 7 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi Geoff, sounds like you are doing really well. Your weight might come off faster than mine has. I am definitely a lb a weeker. I've lost 30 in 6 months. Better than gaining but it can be a slow process. I am going in for my 4th fill today. I think I'm at around 4ccs but I'm not sure exactly. I have been able to eat larger quantities so I'm ready again. Best of luck.
