Feeling down

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 months out and have only lost 30lbs. My meals flexuate. I find it hard to get in my Protein. I've had restriction issues. Sometimes I am tight and other times I can eat well over 2 cups. I am feeling down and discouraged. I joined Curves and that seems to be helping. Anyone out there has had a hard time I would greatly appreciate your input. I guess I need to level set my expectations about the band. I just thought it would be easier for me. That is all.

I'm not there yet, but I definitely understand feeling down and disappointed. I can't offer alot of advice since I have not been there yet myself, but I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you... and I know that you're going to reach your goals.

You are already 30 lbs closer!! You're doing awesome girl. Just keep talking :-) We are here for ya!

Since the average weight loss should be 1 to 2 lbs per week, you are right on track. Just continue to focus on what you are eating and eat slowly. Remember, no drinking during eating. Continue the exercise. You are doing great!!!

Wow! you are doing soooo well. Don't be discouraged...they say loosing the weight slower means more chance of you keeping it off... Although I have lost 84 kgs alltogether only 46lb has been post lapband surgery and I had lapband surgery in October 05 that is almost 14 months ago... As long as the scale is staying put or going down you don't have anything to worry about...just enjoy your new found lease on life...and the excitement of seeing the gradual body/shaping changes.

I know how you feel. Sometimes my weight loss is so slow even when I am doing everything right I wonder if the band was the right thing for me to do. I am going on my 3rd fill on th 14th. I am starting to be able to eat more and get hungry more often so it seems to be about time. I hope everything gets better for you. In the end I do come to the conclusion that I am glad I got banded and it has helped me with my eating habits and my weight loss, regardless of how slow it is going. I am glad to know I am not the only one who feels the way I do.

Julie, I think you are doing great. If you don't feel like you have reached proper restriction, keep going for those fills. Are you exercising? I noticed we started out within one pound of each other. Everyone loses differently. The important thing is, you are losing and you are getting healthier every day.

I know what you mean. I was way too tight after my 4th fill and couldn't keep anything down, everything got stuck and I couldn't eat any Proteins so I go get a slight unfill. It's been a week and I've not lost a thing and in fact for the first time since surgery I gained 2 pounds. It is T.O.M. for me but still, I don't what I should do anymore.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
