Waiting really SUCKS!

Recommended Posts

Can I just say that waiting is horrible. I have no patience when it comes to waiting for approval. My impatience is so bad that yesterday while I was drugged up on benzodiazepines from major dental surgery I called both the insurance company and the surgeons office. OMG...there is no telling what I said and I remember some of what they said. Did I mention waiting is horrible? -.-

I too am in the waiting process. I've spoken with the insurance co. and it's a green light, now I'm doing the monthly weigh-ins (for 6 freakin' months!!gah!). I'm trying to eat healthy, just to see if I can lose anything before Nov. But I cheat almost every other day (one day cheese cake, next time mini Mr. Goodbar's, and even too much macaroni and cheese). I just wish the surgery had already taken place and I was on the road to weight loss and results. **sigh**

But I have to tough it out. Don't stress too much over it. I'm sure you will call again and speak to someone when you are sober and remember all that was said! LOL :D

OMG... 6 months of weigh-ins- that's torture!!! And I wouldn't worry about the cheating, if we could diet without cheating then we wouldn't need the surgery.

sounds like you are writing my story here. My insurance covers the suregery and the anesthesia but i have to do 6 months of weigh in as well with my pcp. I just had my first on 4/29. 5 more weigh in's to go! my first consultation is with the surgeon tomorrow. My pcp also wants me to keep a food diary of everything i eat. its been a day and i already cheated yesterday. Boo, hiss! good luck to you

I obtained a Fitbit from work and it's a great tool. It records my steps and I can go online and log my sleep, food, my weight, HR, BP, Glucose, and a journal. Pretty awesome tool. http://client.fitbit.com/home

I think cheating is a part of life. I usually have a better plan set up, but once in awhile you just NEED those goodies! lol

I think three months is too much too! I think they should realize that if you could have gotten it off without help then you would have already done it on your own. I don't know about y'all but my weight has been a struggle for me all my life. :( I don't have to weigh-in monthly....I am just waiting for insurance to decide if they are going to cover a lap band revision. I really think that sucks that some insurance companies make you wait HALF a YEAR! That's ridiculous!!

I've always been bigger than my mom (she was a size 8 all of my childhood). So when you live with that comparison all of your young life, it doesn't matter that you are a good size and healthy. I was a size 16 when I was 19. That should have been good enough, but I crept up to a 24 over the past 29 yrs.

Now I want to be back in a size 14/16 and am glad that I have this opportunity to do so BEFORE any more co-morbidities come my way (currently only have the >30 BMI).

It really sucks how insurance companies (suit wearing glass tower living fools) dictate what the people need and how it should be done. Who are they to determine how long weight takes to come off, who should get this help, etc. Crazy! :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
