You're not the only one with low energy. You can add me to the list, but I had low energy long before the surgery. I think my problem is the combination of sleep apnea and COPD that keeps me from getting enough rest/oxygen.

I feel like crap a lot...but than I also feel okay a lot of the time. I tend to vomit a lot, Im having acid issues in my baby tummy. Which causes me to feel dizzy a lot and lightheaded. With all of that said, I still wouldnt trade not having the surgery, some days I really miss eating like a normal person, but than I remeber my starting weight and size, and where I am right now, and it replaces the head hunger. Im glad to be getting healthy, even if it means having a baby tummy for life.

You guys don't understand how happy I am reading these. Everyone always posts about good things. I thought I was the only one. Although I do not vomit my stomach feels funny most of the time. I also can barely fit anything in my stomach without feeling uncomfortable. My lightheadedness got a bit better, but now I have lost feeling from my ankles to under my belly button. Spoke to the Doc and I need to start taking thiamine. I love my results, but this is really hard. I need to start working soon and It takes me a while to get going. Just unsure of what to do.

I think the stomach thing for me got better around 5 months.. I feel pretty good with eating no more queasiness. As for the exhaustion I'm hopeful that I will be back to normal in a couple of months, it's a big thing we did to our bodies and I think for some if us, it takes longer to rebound.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
