My journey began with surgery on Oct 30. I know no one wants to hear about complications but I wish I would of known about them ahead of time. I had three tears leaks I didn't realize them until I had an abscess from the liquid I was drinking it all drained into my abdominal region until the pressure built up and spilled out my incesion. I then ended up in emergency surgery and icy and three months of hospital stay. It was very rough. But I finally got my feeding tube out April 13 that's right no food till two weeks ago. Please don't let this change your mind on surgery. I am happy lost 110 lbs 40 more to go.

You're right; no one wants to hear about complications, of course! It's scary, plus we all hate hearing that one of our peers is having a rough time of it because we care about our fellow humans.

But I'm really glad you did tell us about it. Those of us who haven't been sleeved yet or are newly sleeved need to know every bit as much about the risks and failures as we know about the successes. It helps us to assess risk and make informed decisions.

Thank you for helping us along our way!

It sounds as if things are starting to look up for you. I wish you the absolute best outcome going forward.

It wasn't from any one food or liquid the leaks just allowed everything to dump into the abdominal area. The leaks were surgeon error although they wouldn't admit that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
