The end of the beginning of this amazing journey happened this morning, as I hit my goal weight of 235. It's been on my bucket list for so long that it just didn't seem possible. Well, I did it, thanks in part to the support of all of you on this board.

So, my dietician has pointed out that my BMI is still in the "overweight" category, and will be until I get to 215. I'm 6-foot-6...the notion of getting to 215 is just foreign to me. I genuinely don't think I want to get that low. So, we spoke yesterday and I decided I'm going to shoot for 225 now, and use that as my stabilization point. Thoughts on that from the peanut gallery here?

I'm doing 900-1,000 calories a day now. She recommends moving up to 1,200 calories a day for stabilization once I'm at 225, and then eventually 1,500. Because I can't comfortably eat more than 4 oz at a meal right now, I think I'm going to bump it up with switching out my low-fat cheese stick at snack with some real Peanut Butter, as I'm getting plenty of Protein otherwise.

Just amazing that I'm here. Almost cried when I got on the scale this AM. Like a dream.

But the journey continues. The only easy day was yesterday, as they say.

But time for a new profile pic, and a new video update on the blog.

That's the biggest thing I "fear" when I get down to goal eventually, is the transition to "normal" life afterwards. Seems like a bizarre thing to fear, but not for us with food addictions!

I like that your going to work towards a lower weight of 225 lbs. You can do this and it will give you a bit of a cushion for fluctuations in weight. I had a big void when I hit goal and i fluctuate between wanting to lose a couple more lbs or staying where I am.... So many changes in such a short period of time......Just loving it of course. CONGRATS! :P

Your post actually made me tear up a little! I love reading you made it to your goal. That's so amazing! You should be very proud of yourself! You will be able to get these last few pounds off, I know you will. Congratulations on reaching goal!

Congratulations!!! I have found the trickiest part about maintenance is changing the mindset from losing to staying the same. Not quite as easy as I thought it would be.

Congratulations, Jeff! I was also advised to lose 10 more than my goal. My PA said you tend to gain back about 10 during the maintenance phase. I had 3 goals. A realistic goal, a dream goal and a fantasy goal. I'm working on the fantasy, but my body is more interested in maintaining! Best to you!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
