You should call your doctor and tell him what is going on. Try sugar free Jello or sugar free popsicles and see what happens.

Hi, oh man that doesnt sound too good. I am sorry your feeling like this, but isnt this what you opted for? I think this is the thought behind this surgery to not be able to eat. I havent went for surgery yet, but had my NUT appt my doc puts you on pureed foods rt from the start. So you may want to talk to your doc. Maybe its normal to feel how you do. Im sure in a few weeks your gonna love it! Best of luck to you I hope you feel better soon.

Don't freak out, this I only temporary. Before you know it your stomach will be able to tolerate all and any foods. For these few fragile months when you can only eat bites if food at a time, embrace them. It is when you have the most restriction, and tend to loose the most weight. Take advantage.

I was sleeved 4-23 too. I too have been feeling the same. But yesterday I put a dab of sugar free cool whip on my Jello and had some Tomato Soup. Made all the difference in the world. Today is my first day of feeling good. Hang in there. Scour the message boards for ideas and support. It's not a Picnic but it will pass. Baby steps

I'm 3 weeks post- op and started soft diet. I had a my first scrambled egg today. The weeks will go by quickly. Don't rush into anything. But talk to your dietitian. You'll be happier in a few weeks.

I had my surgery 4/24 I want to eat food how long do u wait to eat mashed patatos ?

I had surgery 4/22, went for my first week postoperative appt today. For me it's 3 weeks out before I can have puréed/mashed potatoes. Each doctor has their own rules so check with yours. I know how you feel, I miss chewing!

Make sure you try a variety of full liquids. I am a sweet then salty kind of person. I have Peanut Butter chocolate Protein Shakes and a fruit punch Protein that I mix with lemonade Vitamin Water Zero. A variety of crystal light a s then lots of broth, cream Soups (tomato, cream of chicken, cream of mushroom) ... I know everyone is different but variety definitely seems to help me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
