ShanBan 3 Posted April 30, 2013 Good luck to you.. i was eatin an egg the day after surgery ' date=',My dr. rules were great. Purees were immediate.. Call your dr. he will let you know. It does get better .I am 6 weeks post op today and can eat what i want , but i try to be healthy about it. i can only eat a little bit so it is still hard to get all the requirements in. [/quote'] Wow u were able to eat an egg? Sheesh I was told very strictly by my doc to do all Clear Liquids first week then move on to full liquids (anything you can get thru a straw) for the next week and then I have my first post op appt with my doc on the 10th and im hoping he clears me for solids then
MrsG 329 Posted April 30, 2013 Every dr is different and it's important to check and see how your dr wants you to progress. I had to do all liquids for the first week then started eating regular food provided I chewed it up very well. But some drs want you on liquids for several weeks first. So check with your dr or NUT first before you decide to progress on your own.
JennyBeth 127 Posted April 30, 2013 I was only on Clear Liquids while in the hospital. My surgeon wanted me on full liquids for 1 week and progress to soft/purée foods for another 1-2 weeks and slowly transition to regular food as tolerated. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and still stick to a lot of soft foods. I have so much restriction that I can't wait until I can get more than 2-3 bites in before I'm full! My surgeon says it will get a little bit easier within the next month or two. 1 ShanBan reacted to this
Beckh86 40 Posted May 1, 2013 I'm 5 days post op. I was clear liquids in the hospital then full liquids when I came home. Full liquids until 2 weeks then purée.
lola8986 27 Posted May 1, 2013 I was sleeved april 3rd I'm 4 week post op.. I promise it gets better..I am currently on puree foods and I graduated to solids in a week. What really helped me get through the begining was keeping busy and have a variety of liquids and broths and icepops. What you guys are feeling is completly normal. I was a wreck in the begining. The reward of the weigtloss is what has kept me motivated and on track. Also remembering why you did this in the first place is a huge factor. Hang in there it will get easier. 1 Kennni1984sleeve reacted to this

ShanBan 3 Posted May 1, 2013 I wanna give thanks to everyone. im trying my best to be strong but is very very hard i wish could go back and be normal like before Same depressed emotional feelings here. Im one week post op today. NO ONE tells or prepares you for these first few weeks. My guess is some folks who get this surgery are more strong willed than others. I see some who make it look so easy. Makes me mad that im not one of them! :/ 1 anniemay reacted to this

melodymouse 196 Posted May 1, 2013 I had my surgery 4/24 I want to eat food how long do u wait to eat mashed patatos ? Mashed potatoes are empty calories. Go for something Protein packed like cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. Warm low fat or non fat ricotta cheese seasoned with a butter substitute like mash potatoes is a nice alternative. melodymouse 196 Posted May 1, 2013 To the rest of the newborns out there, it really does get easier pretty quick. The most important thing you need to do is adjust your attitude because Attitude is Everything! You can't go back from here you can only move forward. You seriously need to stop asking "what did I do to myself?!" And start saying, "I am strong and I can do this! I am leaving that miserable life behind me! That's why I did this!!" It isn't that some of us are stronger willed, it's easier for us because we have made THE CHOICE to look at things from a positive perspective. You made a courageous choice to take control and get your life back. Don't let something as insignificant as a little hunger stand in your way! We have a saying at our support group, "NOTHING tastes as good as THIN FEELS!!" Hang in there! YOU are worth it!!!! Best to you! 4 FlikschiK, riss523, Kennni1984sleeve and 1 other reacted to this

axd0424 33 Posted May 1, 2013 Well put. I too hit that wall and then turned a corner. I am not strong by any means. I wouldn't be in this situation if I was. YOU CAN DO IT
AliciaNoelle121 12 Posted May 1, 2013 I was sleeved on 4.16 the first week / two weeks sucks. The first week is the worst. I had these same thoughts. They get better as you can eat more things. I did clear liquids first week. Full the second week and now on mushy like yams CBS mashed potatoes. Monday I can eat more real food like eggs sloppy joes and lunch meat! 1 ShanBan reacted to this
