Definately blew it on dinner

Recommended Posts

Ate at Panda Express and got two entree ( Beijing Beef for one entree and pepper chicken for other) with steamed veggies (2 more meals in my Togo box). Was able to eat almost 75% of Beijing beef. Rest is for tomorrow lunch and dinner.

Looked up the Beijing Beef after the fact and it is 696 calories a serving with 56 g fat and 26 g of carb. The only saving grace is that it has 26 g Protein per serving.

Go ahead, slap me with a handful of chow mein noodles (just don't eat them)!! Lol!

I used up almost all my burned calories from 10 k run earlier today. My wife and I also did a leisurely 45 min walk through the alboreetum near the UW campus. So relaxing!

Hopefully the high fat does not wreck havoc on my system. Usually better then this. My brain must have been asleep or maybe panda is not a safe place to eat. I know they have wok Entrees (under 250 cal), but I was just not making the right choice on that tonight. Ate very well rest of the day.

Crap happens...drink lots of Water to flush out the sodium. Get back up on the horse tomorrow and it will all be good. We all have days like that, so we pick up and move on.

The peach green tea fountain drink that Panda Express has is amazingly good and zero calories. So good. If I were a new post op, I would be drinking this all the time to meet Water requirements. That flavor would make it pretty easy.

I try to get the 'wok smart' items like the pepper chicken, mushroom chicken, etc. I do love a bite or two of the beijing beef or orange chicken, but the breading bothers my sleeve a bit. I can now eat a few bites of noodles too which is a yummy splurge. I can also eat a couple bites of their potstickers which I love with the potsticker sauce.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
