Feeling regretful, does this pass?

Recommended Posts

I TOTALLY get what you're saying! I found out a week after surgery that I had a leak @ spent the next 3 weeks in the hospital. I had SOOOOOO many regrets... I felt guilty for putting my wonderful boyfriend through all that & felt like I was being selfish. I cried... A LOT!! I can tell you that it does pass though. Im starting to feel better now & the weight has finally started coming off & THAT'S what will change your mind. It's not easy to get into the routine of eating according to this procedure but it will happen & your definition of a "normal meal" will be different but gratifying. Just be patient & it'll all come together. All the research I did pre-op led me to believe that others were dancing in the streets just days after surgery & suddenly I was in the massive minority but my direction is changing & Im seeing the positive a lil more each day. Keep your chin up!

As a Bengals fan I hate agreeing with a Squeelers fan ;-) But she's right.

You are not alone. Tomorrow will mark 1 week post op. I think yesterday was my worst day. Literally took an ambien and crawled up into a ball. Today I started adding some new things toy diet. I put a dollop of sugar free cool whip on my Jello. Made a huge difference. I'm now having a bit if Tomato Soup. It's done wonders to get through this stage. Hang in there. You are NOT alone

I'm not saying that I don't have moments when I really miss being able to dive into a great big hunk of prime rib, but those are just moments that are far outweighed by my increased mobility and overall feeling of health.

<sniff> <sniff>. Ah, sweet memories.... Brought a tear to my eye. That was my favorite thing in the whole world.

Last night I dreamed I was making these HUGE cylinders formed out of milk chocolate. Imagine a chocolate bunny... Only it was a cylinder that stood 4 feet tall and I was filling it with M&Ms, Kit Kats, and whipped cream. Where the heck did that come from?!? I haven't even been yearning for candy!

How did you "find out" you had a leak? What were you feeling? What symptoms?

And what was done to correct it? More surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
