michelle4873 113 Posted April 29, 2013 I was shocked the day after surgery the scale said I put on 9lbs! I'm post op 3 days and have lost 7 of that but man did that bum me out!
JennyBeth 127 Posted April 29, 2013 My advice is to not even step on the scale at least for a week or two. The same thing happened to me and I also hardly lost anything for the first 3 weeks so then I became really upset that the sleeve wasn't going to work on me. Then finally I started losing and I've lost 30 pounds and I'm 6 weeks out on Wednesday. Stay off the scale until you start noticing your clothes starting to get loose! Robin26 7 Posted April 29, 2013 I was shocked the day after surgery the scale said I put on 9lbs! I'm post op 3 days and have lost 7 of that but man did that bum me out! I had my sleeve done 4/22 and I to was surprised to have gained weight.I lost 11 pounds pre-op.Then after surgery gained 13 pounds. It's been a week and I lost 10 of it but, I thought losing before surgery I would be a head. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
AliciaNoelle121 12 Posted April 29, 2013 Don't worry it's the gas and swelling from surgery totally normal. You didn't gain anything it was added into you! 1 Robin26 reacted to this
aquitenonnymouse 206 Posted April 29, 2013 Yep, I gained a bunch from surgery. It's just the fluids your body is retaining to help heal itself. Don't worry about it! Step on again in a week and you'll be amazed! 1 Robin26 reacted to this
skinnyginny 128 Posted April 29, 2013 Same thing here... I even took photos of my face I was so bloated. It is all just the fluids they pump you full of to ensure you don't get dehydrated. I was an out-patient for my surgery and the next day I went back in and they pumped me full of even more fluids. All in the name of ensuring you don't get dehydrated. All completely normal and will eventually get flushed out of your system. 1 Robin26 reacted to this
MrsG 329 Posted April 29, 2013 Oh yeah, my stomach looked huge for like 2-3 weeks after. It was gross. I gained 10lbs the morning after surgery and was mildly horrified! It comes off tho, the more you heal. 1 Robin26 reacted to this
