Everyone around here says that you can expect a stall at week 3. Just keep doing what your doctor directed, and things should start moving again. Sometimes your body needs a bit of time to adjust. Or so they tell me :)

I hit my first stall at less than two weeks out. I was stalled for two and a half weeks and the scale finally started moving again a little over a week ago. This past week (I weigh officially on Mondays since that was my surgery day so I "officially" weighed this morning) I lost 6.8 pounds. That's the most I've lost in one week since the week of surgery (you can look at my signature and see how I have done each week). The stall will break, keep your chin up. This may be your first but it won't be the last. I think we get spoiled to watching the scale move down everyday and when it quits we get frustrated. I felt like a brat whining over not losing but still I wasn't getting my way so I whined. I will tell you this, when I was in my stall, it seemed like more people noticed my weight loss. I even dropped a pant size, maybe 2, during my stall. I absolutely lost inches even though I didn't lose weight. Measure yourself and see where your inches are coming off even if the scale isn't moving. You've got this!

Hang in there. You're not done losing by any means! If you stick with your plan your weight will start to come off again. There are all kinds of posts on this site that talk about the dreaded week three stall, and stalls at other times in the process.

In the meantime, did you remember to take measurements before surgery? If you did, now would be a good time to take that tape measure out again. Chances are, the inches are still coming off as your body takes this break to readjust. If you didn't measure before, get some measurements now to use when you stall again (yup, it will quite likely happen again). I'll bet that if you think about it, the clothes are still getting looser.

And really, think about it. You lost 25 lbs in less than a month! That's a terrific accomplishment already, even if your stall takes a bit longer to break.

Meanwhile, get your Protein, get your Water, get your exercise, get your sleep. You'll be fine!

Good luck!

Me too. It was a horrible stall that lasted more than 2 weeks. Just ridiculous! But the scale finally moved. Yours will too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
