Vent away. Your liquid diet will be over soon and will be forgotten shortly afterwards. Hang in there.

I hate to bring this up given how you already feel, but are you sure you're allowed coffee at one week? It's acidic and, therefore, hard on the stomach. Everyone has different instructions from their doctor though.

I can completely relate! The liquid diet is the worst. If I never see a Protein Shake again it would be too

soon. I never want any broth again either.

Hang in there! Pretty soon it will be a distant memory and you'll be eating some regular food.< /p>

Having some coffee helped me too. Maybe you can get lucky and your Dr will let you have some real Soup or other

additional foods just to make you feel better about this thing?

It is hard but you will do great! Hang in there and everyday that goes by will get better.

BTW: An emotional breakdown towards the end of the first week is normal. I had one, and then come to find out lots and lots of folks have. Probably the surgery drugs and the reality of the situation.

It will get better. Almost 8 weeks out now and loving my sleeve and loving life!

Am a couple of days behind you and sympathize completely. I want to vomit at the thought of milk or Protein Shakes. However, spoke to my nurse this morning, who said I was trying too hard to get the Protein in. She suggested milky coffee, creamy Soup (no bits and you can add milk without actually tasting it), yogurt, Water, frozen yogurt, sugar free lollies (Popsicles). Have tried this and now feel as if I am back in control and that I can survive this phase.

Hang in there, never has the phrase "this too will pass" been truer!

Ps I could kill for a piece of roast beef, something I wouldn't have thought about pre-op, lol ;-)

Thanks guys. I've heard about this breakdown but though nah, not me. Boy was I wrong. I'm lucky coffee is on my liquid list. I think I will get some v8 Soup today. I've read about a lot of people eating that to take off the edge. I used to love crystal light and now it nauseates me lol. Oh the struggles we face for a better life.

Ps. I too would kill for a piece of roast beef. Lol.

I frozen premade chocolate Protein Shakes into plastic popsicle makers and had those a lot, still do. They saved me because brooth was not something I wanted since this was a revision and doing brooth after my original band surgery was enough.

Try the Isopure Protein drinks. Its considered a clear liquid and 2 oz of Protein per oz. Tastes similar to Gatorade. nectar Protein Drinks are good too, very light tasting but they look cloudy and you have to keep shaking them so the protein doesen't settle on the bottom.

Can you sugarfree pudding yet? If you can, 1 1/4 cup skim milk, add unflavored or chocolate, or even vanilla for that matter Protein powder , throw in the blender and mix it, add your chocolate sugarfree (or whatever flavor) pudding mix an blend it for a few seconds. I make two servings. If you do one scoop of Protein Powder it gives you about 15 grams of protein, if you use two, it ill give you about 25.

It's just something different and gets your protien in, very important in these early weeks. Helps so much with healing.

Hang in there, you can do this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
