Patrick

Sooooo great to see you again !!!!

many/me watched you as a "little newbie", ;)

starting your long walk towards great health

you have done great :)

at the beginning 'we" were so happy and excited to watch your journey

eventually, you kindof dropped off the face of the earth (i do know you were other places but....)and wondered how you were

there was even a thread called something like "anyone seen Patrick"???

How special does that show you are :)

shows how much you are loved!!!!

hope its ok to say when someone has a larger amount of weight to loose

it can be easier to get upset, discouraged if a slip up is done

I can't even begin to imagine what a hard road you have been walking :(

don't ever throw in, or even drop the towel

if you do slip on that banana - get up, get up!!!!! :)

when you are having those harder days (or not) thats when its important to be here for support

many people throw around the word "inspirational"

Patrick you and your story are inspirational!!!

continued success - you are doing great!!!!!

i am looking forward to seeing less and less of you

but........i want to see you more on the board, ok???

i remember, know you give great responses to posts

but come here with any questions, (like how did the chicken cross the road  )

OMG :o

just about 200 lbs down!!!

keep up the great job :)

you are aces!!!!

congrats

Keep up the great work!!! You mentioned needing Jillian for the head part - maybe its time to find a good therapist to work on the psychology stuff... :)

PATRICK!!!!!!

Great to see you brother!!!! I've been wondering how you've been. Dude, almost 200lbs lost, that is a huge accomplishment. That's just the first year!!! Do you realize that averages out to .55lb per day, every day? That's almost 4lbs/week FOR A YEAR!!!!

Your path might be longer than some others, but you have come so far already. Believe me, we all have our bad days(I know I have), but you are the MAN!!! You might have the board record for 1year weight loss.

I really do hope to see you around a bit more often. And BTW I'm still looking forward to that roller coaster ride.

FYI. As I'm typing this, I'm driving through Dayton.

Hey' date='

I haven't posted in QUITE awhile, sometimes I have good days sometimes I don't.. I don't always eat right, but I can't stuff myself like before...

I'm actually thinking of trying out for the Biggest loser, because I could really use some psycho-analysis from Jillian, and some good fitness coaching....

I've recently broken the 500 pound mark. I started at 670, lost 20 pre-op, and 150 post op. If I can get to 470 (currently 495, that will be 200 since I began the Journey last May- - if I can get to 450 by July 2nd, that will also be 200 since my surgery... those are my two goals for now....

Here's some updated pics, showing my progress.

That is amazing!! Great job!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
