New here and soon to be banded!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am to be banded on Wednesday Dec 13th by Dr. Cobourne in Mississauga. Hope everyone is doing well.:clap2:

I put on the intro thread that I was planning to go to Cancun January 12th for a week and my mom thinks I'm nuts. I think I'll be okay because we've been there before and know the food is good and since I will be on the soft portion of the diet, I think I should be okay.:help:

Let me know what you think,

Deb

Welcome dsoehner!!!

Your in great hands with Dr. Cobourn, he's amazing.

Going to Cancun shouldnt be a big problem, I don't think. You shouldnt have any pain by a month. You will have to stick to smooth/mushies though.

Isn't Pina Colada's smooth????? lol

Yes, to my recollection Pina Coladas are smooth and mushie! I am deliberately going back to the Blue Bay Getaway in Cancun, I was there last January. I know the quality of food was excellent and I should be able to get something mushie at each meal. I figure eggs in the am, cottage cheese or some fruit squished for lunch with salad and then hamburger or some other Protein chewed well or mooshed.:hungry:

I got it all figured (I hope):rolleyes .

Thanks for the reassurance though.

Deb

Slime thing??????:faint:

Deb

When you eat too much or swallow chunks of food without chewing them to a mush, then it will get stuck and it will have to come back up. When it does, it does so in a big wad of slime. Sorry for the visual. It dosent hurt. Most times its a huge relief. But sometimes it can catch you off guard, especially in the beginning.

Good to know, I was expecting it to come from the other end. Guess I just need to reverse my thinking. What used to come out gross now comes up gross!!!!!LOL:p

ahhhhh, the good ol' slimes. They are usually your friend when they come, as it will relieve the onset of any impending pain.

Ummmm.....but Deb....keep in mind that a slime "episode" can last awhile.........

We got a slime virgin here folks!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
