My doctor told me one month. I could have gone back a week later because I felt fine by then but I sat back and enjoyed my little vacation lol

A gal my husband works with is being sleeved on Monday and she's only taking two weeks off. They do a very physical job, so I think she may need more time. I'm excpecting three weeks, but I want to be carful about lifting heavy items. Good luck, I hope you have a speedy recovery and try and enjoy your time off :)

Ok. I was thinking 4-6 weeks. I work in a call center and they would not be too forgiving if I returned to work and was unable to remain in the phone for 8-10 hrs with only a lunch and 2 breaks...

I was told by our HR department that no more then 2 weeks is needed off for the sleeve surgery. However a lady I work with had VSG and was off for 3 weeks and had to fight to get paid her STD for that last week. I'm not sure, but I assume it depends on the type of work you do. Something to call and ask your HR department about as well as your surgeon

I worked 6 hours on Friday (4 days out) and 6 hours today (6 days out). I will go back full time tomorrow. I have no choice though. I'm a contractor and if I don't work, I don't get paid... Enjoy your time off and heal if you can.

I only have 3 weeks of ETO to draw from, so I'll need to go back then. Hopefully I'll be good to go by then. It seems like just learning to get the Water and Protein in will take some time.

My job will give me up to 3 months (union Job) but I'm only going to take 4-6. My surgeon said she will approve up to 6 weeks....Thank God!!

I was sleeved 23/4, discharged 25/4. Went back to work for 3 hours today but as I do sedentary work, found that sitting for long periods was not too comfy. Drs recommend 2 weeks off ....but also depends on your type of job. I think how well you sleep the night before also contributes - I am used to sleeping on my sides and am battling so soon.

May try go back for a few hours tomorrow :-)

I just want to be sure I'm able to handle ( mentaly and physically) my new lifestyle change prior to returning to work.

It was difficult for the first 3 days but then everything just got normal. The month off really helped me alot.

Work cannot tell you when to return. Your surgeon can. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen if your job tells you when to return to work after a major surgery. Especially if your doctor gave you a specific time to return. Follow up surgeons advice. He/she is the expert not hr. they are thinking about the company and not your health. Good luck.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
