Am I Going 2 Have Scars All Over My Stomach

Recommended Posts

by having the lap band surgery.

I have learned so much from this board it is amazing.

However, I really didn't think about all the incisions that are going to be made over time with the fills.

How do you feel about that? (scars) Yes, it's better to have scars than fat hanging but----------

I have two small scars and 1 medium scar just above my belly button left over from the surgery...they don't look too bad and have certainly faded over time...I cant even see the needle points from all my fills....but I don't think I will ever be a bikini wearing girl so for me it was a small price to pay for and all over better body and healthier lifestyle...

:)

Yep,

I've hard 4 fills and one unfill and it's just like getting a shot, no scar from that whatsoever, and the scars them self are all tiny and in fact you can't even see 2 of mine and then the port scar is about 1 1/2 in.

There is a scar stages thread that you can check out. It has some good photos of people and their scars at different times after surgery.

Hi Speck!

There really are very little scars. What you've read about the fills here is correct. The fills are not incisions, just a needle. I've attached a picture of what my stomach looks like 16 months after surgery. I virtually have no scars. I have had 6 fills. You can't even see the original scars from the surgery. You have to search for them. :)

Looking HOT there Dianne! My scars are only slightly more visible than hers. They really fade over time. As for fills, at most the fill will sometimes leave a small temporary bruise at the injection site, but never a scar.

Wow, beautiful skin Diane.

I have to pipe in as I have keloids. I am NOT happy with my scars thus far. The skin on my tummy was one of the nicest parts of my body despite it being fat.

But, you said it. I'd WAY rather be at goal and have a few scars to tell my story. I CAN always have a plastic surgeon work on making them lighter or thinner later when I am at goal.

Good luck with your decision.

I am sure happy with mine to get banded and 4 months later I am 50 pounds lighter on my feet.

I'll take the scars any day over the tummy I had before I started! Between these and the scars from my gall bladder removal, I figure someday when I have grandkids I can give them a marker and they can play connect the dots on Granny's nice, flat tummy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
