...I have had to go in first week checkup, 3 week check up (due to being dehyrdrated the first week), 1 month, and now this coming week 2 month check up because I am still dehydrated...I do think it is a $$ racket for many dr/nut. I hope I won't have to go back til 6 months, but I bet they will tell me to come back for a 3 month check up...

My nut is very upset with me; I spent $100s on various shakes/powders - I just can't stomach them at all, so I am getting my Protein in by food & I'm not getting 70 grams every day. I told my nut I just couldn't keep up spending the $$$ on trying to find a shake - if I liked shakes, I would have never needed the surgery in the first place. She didn't like my answer, but I figured I better be honest with her. I am not getting in 64 oz Fluid, either, I really try, but it still becomes very uncomfortable. I broke her 'rules' - I use a straw to try to drink more so I am not dehydrated, but hasn't worked yet...so my nut is upset with my honesty. I think if I lied about the Protein & Water - she'd be happy.

My NUT is nice, so far! The only problem I have with her is she is about a size 0! It's hard to take someone seriously on food when she looks like she is anorexic!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
