I am 8 1/2 months post op. i just started tanning a few weeks ago. I didnt wait for any specific time' date=' thats just when tanning started to interest me again <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> must be the spring fever <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I had very light scars and now that my tummy is getting tan, they are basically non-existent!

The only scar that is noticeable is from my gall bladder surgery that i had a few months after vsg.

Good luck to everyone with your tanning!

I love my "me" time 2-3 times a week just laying in the tanning bed listening to music <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />[/quote']

How much have you lost in 8.5 months

I am 7 weeks out...I started to tan about 3 weeks out...I do use a towel to cover my scars. I am naturally dark skinned. My scars are barely noticeable.

I would advise anybody to check with their doctor first.

I got it at my tanning salon. It was a little pricey $45. But you don't have to use much, so it will last a long time.

I'm trying to get my legs tanned so I don't have to wear stockings at a wedding I am going to in about 4 weeks. So right now I am going 3x a week - 7 minutes each time. I'll then go 2x a week until my visits expire/summer in New England arrives.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
