makemyownluck 785 Posted April 28, 2013 Congrats! I'm having surgery Thursday - my liquid diet doesn't allow for 1 meal a day, so I'm pretty jealous! The first week was rough. I started doing shakes as Meal Replacements for weeks prior to the liquid only and it was still tough. But after the first week, my hunger miraculously vanished! I haven't been hungry in days - I just feel "empty" sometimes and then I know it's time for a shake. I mean, I've been awake for 4 hours and just now realized I've only had a cup of coffee. Time for a shake! Also, IDK if I'd get through this if it weren't for Tomato Soup. I've always been a fan of Tomato Soup, tho, so maybe that's not something that will help you. For me, I look so forward to it! I'm sick of the shakes! I like the nectar - the chocolate truffle is one of the best chocolate shakes I've tried. I've been using Premier Protein shakes that I get at costco (and I've read they are at Sams Club, too) because they are 30g Protein per shake and they are ready-to-drink which is just more convenient for me. Keep yourself busy, it helps with the hunger. Hopefully your hunger will go away as well! Good luck!
Jessiegurl2686 104 Posted April 28, 2013 Thanks for the reply! We don't have a cosco here..... But ill try SAMS! And not a fan of Tomato soup... Lol but I'm sure I can figure something out! I'm usually pretty busy have a 2 year old and work a full time job and a needy bf lol. So that shouldn't be a problem! I know this might sound silly but I've never made a Protein shake... How's the best way... Milk ... Water... Ice?!?
JShaw 22 Posted April 28, 2013 I had to do a 1 week liquid diet before - shakes, sugar free popsicles, broth, and Jello. Not gonna lie. I wanted to rip someones head off the first few days. Stay strong, that only lasts 1-3 days, then the hunger goes away. Once the hunger goes away I had to remind myself to eat. Good luck!
Kelsan 117 Posted April 28, 2013 My liquid diet starts Monday too. My surgery is 05/06, so this should be an interesting test run of what the next few weeks are going to be like.

Jessiegurl2686 104 Posted April 29, 2013 I ate a pickle day one liquid diet!!!! Is it really THaT big of a deal?? There's no carbs... Sugar or fat.... I just needed something!!'n
JShaw 22 Posted April 29, 2013 liquid diet is just that....a liquid diet. Pretty sure pickles are a no no because of the sodium. There is always tomorrow?! Ask your doctor if you can substitute a lean Protein (fish or chicken) and 1/2 cup veggies for one liquid shake. My doctor let my friend do that. It just depends on the doctor.
