Does anyone know if the total lean shakes from GNC are safe to drink?

Well the true is that I am researching Protein shakes right now. I went and look for the GNC total lean and I read a lot of reviews that it actually taste good, but the only problem I see is that it has 180 calories and about 30 grams of carbohadrites. Which according to my doctor recomendations is not good. I need a Protein with no. More than 5 grams of carbohydrates. And I would like something with less calories.

So I am going to try the isofemme by allmax nutrition. It has 120 calories and 3 g of carbohydrates. And 25 g of protein is perfect just what I need.

The Total Lean shakes from GNC that are already mixed taste really good, especially the swiss chocolate. I am drinking them as a part of my 3 day liquid diet. Not only does it have 25 grams of proten but it is packed with 24 Vitamins & minerals, lactose free and is 170 calories. The only issue I have encountered is gas...But it doesn make me really full. So I guess I will have to see how it works after surgery. I put the bottle in the freezer, let it get slushy and I was good to go. I have surgery Tuesday, I will let you know how I do after my surgery.

They are but they are so yucky. Well to me they are. I tried the already made shake from gnu fridge and it was okay. I have two big containers one French vanilla the other banana and I have not used it. But you might like it. I've tried a few more like Isopure, premier and some other ones and they did not help. But everyone's different. Ask for a sample before you buy them. Good luck!

I am 4 days post op and I cant stomach the Protein Shakes anymore. I`ve tried several different flavors and brands and spent over 200.00 bucks trying to find something I can tolerate but havent no luck. I manage thru the 2 weeks Liquid Protein diet prior to surgery but I can not stomach it anymore. The smell of the Protein Powder makes me gag!! I know how important it is to get my Protein in but I feel like its hopeless amd need HELP please!!!

Have you tried soy Protein or egg Protein? They are acceptable solutions. Did you try a sample of one of the unflavored protein powders mixed in a broth? You might find it more palatable in something savory like that.

I am the same exact way. 8 days post op and have yet to find a protein that will allow me to get the recommended amount in. I am currently only able to choke down about half of what I am suppose to. The best I have found is the Premier Protein so far. The smell is also what gets me. It's not so much the taste, but you can smell it the entire time you drink it and it makes me gag also. I'm just hanging in there and getting as much as I can in. :(

30g carbs is pretty high.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
