I was sleeved by Dr. Portenier from Duke Metabolic Weight Loss Center. Was SO impressed by him and everyone in their office. I researched them well prior to going with them and their results were good with low complication rate.

AH how has the past month been? any suggestions?

There have been struggles but all the positives make it great! I am down 43+ lbs. the first 48 hrs were miserable (gas pain and nausea) but I woke up that first day at home and felt pretty darn good. My energy has been slow to come back. But I just moved to stage 4 in the book and am getting more calories and feeling a lot better. Heider is very concise and good at what he does--easy on the eyes, too! His office staff is AMAZING. I emailed Tiffany at 530 in the morning one day about acid reflux from hell and had a response by 7 and a RX called in by 9.

I have not once regretted this. Feel free to msg me.

I am in the Cary area and was sleeved on Nov 3 by Dr. Roy at WakeMed; best decision I ever made. Just celebrated by one month surgiversary with a 22lb weight loss and overall loss of 15 inches. I have been blessed throughout the whole process, which for me, started in September. I swear, if it weren't for the fact that I am never hungry and can eat so very little, and the five little incision marks, I wouldn't know they had actually done anything. No complications, no nausea or anything. I was sleeved on a Monday and shopping on Wednesday.

I can so relate, trixietalks! I had my sleeve done by Dr.David Miles in Wilmington, NC in September. I've lost 50 lbs. since then, and also sometimes wonder if he really did anything at all, because I have had zero pain, complications, or nausea! The only problem I had was Constipation for about a month from the gall bladder pills I'm taking for 6 months, but even that has since reversed itself.

Sleeve Life is awesome!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
