Has anyone had their surgery on a Friday and been able to go back to work the following Monday? I have a desk job.

I haven't had the surgery yet, so I can't offer you my experience, but I would venture to guess that after only two days post-op you might still need time to heal in order to be comfortable at work. Everyone is different, though, and I'm sure there are many folks on here who feel they healed quickly.

My advice would be to use caution and your own good sense--listen to your body, and don't push yourself too hard, too soon.

Wow, I'm not sure. I think back and never would of been ready. I had an pretty easy recovery too. I would encourage at least a week. That's my opinion.

No, I was off close to 7 weeks. My job requires lots of lifting. But this is Major Surgery. And every one body responds different. And recovery can vary. I say plan for extra time go back when you think you can. Some people did go back in a week.

Good luck

Omg. I wasn't feeling better for bout 8 days after surgery....I just wanted to sleep..I was in pain...I honestly don't think you'd feel up to it..but yet again everyone is different. Just don't over do it. :)

I'm taking 6 weeks off. I have a desk job as well, but I'm up and down a lot. Don't push yourself or your body. Give it time to adjust. My coworker was sleeved in Sept 12 and was happy she took all 6 weeks. I say if you have the time, take it!

I have a job with heavy lifting and right now at 16 days, I still cannot lift a gallon of milk without it being shaky tiring. Knocks me down for quite awhile. Saw my MD for the 2 week check up 4/25 and the normal he approves for disability time out is 3 weeks and told me 4 weeks would be better for me since mine was a revision lapband removal and VSG in the same procedure. Today is my first day I have been able to back off on the pain meds. And I still have leaky incisions...that would not be good at work

I had my revision and hernia repair on a Wednesday and was released from the hospital on Saturday. I had planned on working Monday ( I work from home as an accountant) and I tried each day but didn't start back until the following Monday and then I tired easily. If I was you, I would give myself more time.

Although, I felt like I could....if at all possible I would take some time off just to be safe! I was lucky & had no problems, I did get tired easily....but other then that I was fine. But if you can take some time off, it will allow you time to adjust to your new way of eating/drinking! Good luck!

Has anyone had a laparoscopic appendectomy to compare it with? I ask, because I was back at work on the 4th day after my evening emergency appendectomy a few years ago (surgery on Friday night, back in the office on Tuesday). I'm just curious if the recovery time is similar in your opinion.

I had a my gallbladder removed by lap & a lap tubal & a cyst removed by lap...& all three of those surgeries were WAY more painful & required more recovery time than my sleeve. I was pleasantly surprised!!

I was just sleeved on Monday and did not even get discharged until Thursday afternoon. The first day home i was in a lot of pain with pain meds every 4 hours. Yesterday i only took 4 doses of pain meds and so far today I've only taken one dose but plan on another at bedtime. I feel like I'm turning a corner today but everyday I've needed an afternoon nap too. Don't know if you can get that at work?!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
