My doctor Lopez uses a size 32 Bougie. For those of you that has this 32 Bougie. What problems do you have. I have heard many comments on sizes of Bougie's.

Are you having surgery done by Dr. Alejandro Lopez in Tijuana? Just curious, I think I've seen you post that he is your surgeon. That is my surgeon.

I don't think bougie size makes a huge difference in weight loss.

I have heard the leak risk can go up the smaller the bougie.

I was sleeved here in the US, and have no idea what my "bougie size" was/is. I have plenty of restriction.

So funny, right before I went into surgery I was like, oh wait, what is and he smiled real big and said 36. He read my mind lol ( or most likely that's a really common preop question lol).

My surgeon does a 32 but he said he does not sew it tight around to limit the risk of a leak. Cool picture of the sizes too.

I had a 36 French... and I can barely eat 2 oz of tuna fish in one meal... I am better at getting Protein Shakes down than real food, even though I have a larger bougie , my restriction is pretty good. I asked my doctor why 36 not 32.. he said " less acid reflux problems and the mm difference if very small between the bougies unless you get a 60 French...... bodyweight.png?ts=1367336671

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
