Hi folks. New to the sure. Just needing friendly advice. I was sleeved on 4/25..I lost 20lbs postOP. My question is..when did your stomach pain finally go away...I feel like I've done 600 crunches and what is your best advice about getting in your fluids..its hard for me because as soon as I take my medicine I want to go to sleep. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks. =)

20 lbs in 2 days?!? Wow!

I was told to rest whenever I felt like it and just start over with getting the fluids in when you wake up. Don't fret over not getting enough because of sleep. Just steady sip, as tolerated while awake.

It took a couple of days for the gas cramps to stop. All the trapped air has to absorb from your abdominal cavity through your bowels before it can be "released." The more you walk and stretch, the faster it will go away.

As for the sore stomach, I only had one incision that was tender the first few days. My whole stomach didn't feel beat up at all. Just rest and if you are hurting, take a pain pill. "Don't be a hero." That's what I was told by the nurse specialist who coached me.

I meant pre OP lol. I don't really think I have gas its just cramps. I'm feeling much better today. Watt about exercise when do you think would be a good time to start that? I'm ready to get this weight loss on the ball. =)

You can exercise right now. Even resting, sitting on the sofa watching TV, lift weights (I use 4 lb hand weights) doing arm curls, etc. Google to get exact arm exercises to be done in a sitting position. You can march in place while sitting in a chair. Raise both feet off the floor with legs extended and hold for 15 seconds between rests. Walk from one end of the house to the other. Cut yourself some slack. You are weak. You are on pain meds. Don't push too hard. This is the recuperation period, not time to prepare for a prize fight. The more active you are, the less gas you'll have and the more you can work the drugs out of your system. And, movement really does reduce overall pain. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
