Hello everyone.I know it has been a long while since i have posted but l am glad to be back and with excitng news. I DID IT !!!!!! l had my LAGB done here in South Africa by a splendid Dr on the 8th of march and am glad to report minimal pain since surgery and for the first time in my life have almost zero appetite. Is this normal? l also seem to have a perpetual feeling of fullness and only take Clear Liquids stuff as an after thought. Weight on day of surgery was 111.2kg. Will make the little tracking thingmagicki when l have time and might need my son to do coz l am a little technologically challenged. Otherwise thanks to all for the inspiration. l love this board.

Welcome back, and congrats on the band. We had another member here in Africa, she was banded in the states. If you search the word Africa I am sure you will find her. To answer your questions, yes the loss of appetite is normal. With some people that returns, others it never really does. It is mostly swelling right now, as the swelling goes away the hunger may return. I am 19 months post-op and still forget to eat sometimes all day. I think I have been really hunger only a handful of times since banding. Make sure you get in plenty of liquids, you MUST stay hydrated to stay healthy. ~Mandy

Click on anyones ticker, it will take you to the ticker site. Build the ticker of your choice and it will give you several codes. Choose the one for v.buliten. Copy and paste that code into your signature. (in the user CP, top left of the page). If you need more help than that let me know. ~Mandy

Thiyekhile,

I finally have internet and am at the board again. Thanks Mandy for letting me know about this thread. Who is your doctor in Pretoria? Can you ask if he is willing to do a floro on someone he didn't operate on?

I am having bad acid reflux and may need some fill taken outl. Right now, I am in Sana'a Yemen and the altitude and dry air is killing me.

Congratulations on having surgery. Its the best thing I ever did for me.

I live in Lilongwe, Malawi but get through J'burg for flights and when I go to Cape Town to enjoy. Email me or pm me. Celeste

Glad I could help. When you want to update it just do the same, but remove the current signature before pasting the new one. ~Mandy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
