I have not had gallbladder trouble and hope not to. May I ask if you took anything after your sleeve in regards to your gallbladder like Actigol? Did you take it everyday as prescribed? Just curious so I know what to watch out for. Thanks and good luck and speedy recovery to you!

Thanks. I was not told to take anything...I just mentioned that I had a dull, nagging pain that gets more intense sometimes, so I had an ultrasound and I have gallbladder disease and gall stones :(

Well, my story is atypical (since it was 20 yrs ago and it was emergency, so they had to do an open chole) but I thought I was having a heart attack. My chest hurt and it radiated down my arm. I was 25. My husband took me to the ER where they did a CT and showed that my gallbladder was not only full of stones, it was very infected and they couldn't do it laparoscopically. I woke up with an ng tube in my nose in the worst pain imaginable. They gave me morphine in my iv every 2-3 hrs. I was in the hospital for a week. I turned yellow (jaundice) on the 3rd day so they had to up my fluids.

For a year, my stomach would turn when I saw or smelled red meat. Then, after a year, I wanted a burger on day, ate one and that was all she wrote! My last meal was clam chowder before my gallbladder attack, so even the smell of it until just about 5 yrs ago made my stomach turn.

Like I said, my story is atypical. most people have it done outpatient and have no problems. And you go on to resume your normal diet within a couple of weeks. Good luck to you!

Well, today was day 1.. hopefully my body adjusts to it.

I took it and about an hour later felt like my stomach was upset, and gassy. I kinda felt like that feeling like when you have the flew and almost don't feel like you are in your own skin.. It's hard to explain..

I didn't get any heartburn flair ups though.. which is good, and the gas was just a bloated feeling and didn't develop into anything more. It's just not a feeling I would want to deal with if I was going out somewhere,or doing something.

My surgeon will remove my gallbladder when he does my sleeve surgery. He said so many people end up with gall stones and needing their gallbladder removed after surgery, that he just removes them automatically on all bypasses and sleen'tves now. That way I will avoid having to go back for my surgery down the road and will not need to take meds or deal with the gall stone pain........does anyone else's doctor do this? surgery.png?ts=1367035796

I'm on the mobile site so I can't see your profile to know when you were sleeved; but, what you describe sounds like it might help to cut the pill in half or thirds to take it.

I had my gallbladder out a month ago, I was 8 months post sleeve. I never was put on any meds to prevent it. I had a gallbladder attack that sent me to the er 2 months before my chole. It was the worst pain of my life! I had 4 more attacks that I managed at home and was in pain every day. My surgeon couldn't do my chole so she referred me to another general surgeon. I knew him already because I work at the hospital I had my surgery done at. He did a single incision lap chole, they just went through my belly button! It was so cool I have no scars! My diet has improved so much since I had it. Before I was eating yogurt and Protein Shakes and now I'm back to normal. I do have alot more gas then I ever did, normally bad in the morning. And my bowl movements have been very irregular. I am glad I got it removed and didn't try to manage it. The surgery was a breeze, my OR time was 730 and I was on my way home by 130!

Gallbladder attacks was the worst pain I personally have experienced. I'm so glad I had mine out years before I had the sleeve surgery this year .. I was back on a stricken diet back then hence why I got gallstones from losing weight too fast.. I had an attack caused by milk in a coffee. Was horrible could get comfy and throwing up soooo much.

Only had two attacks before they booked me in to have surgery.

Recovery was quick and easy though :)

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
